[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
An image taken at the transport dam in Kruger park last weekend with th.e new sigma 150 - 500 mm lens with IS, the dryness of the veld can be seen behind the Giraffe although out of focus. We had some rain this weekend so the veld will start with a bit of greenery as we move into summer and hopefully more rain soon.

Giraffe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest of all land-living animal species, and the largest ruminant. Males can be 4.8 to 5.5 metres (16 to 18 feet) tall and weigh up to 1,700 kilograms (3,800 pounds). The record-sized bull, shot in Kenya in 1934, was 5.87 m (19.2 ft) tall and weighed approximately 2,000 kg (4,400 lb).[2] Females are generally slightly shorter, and weigh less than the males do.
The giraffe is related to deer and cattle, but is placed in a separate family, the Giraffidae, consisting only of the giraffe and its closest relative, the okapi. Its range extends from Chad to South Africa.
Giraffes can inhabit savannas, grasslands, or open woodlands. They prefer areas enriched with acacia growth. They drink large quantities of water and, as a result, they can spend long periods of time in dry, arid areas. When searching for more food they will venture into areas with denser foliage.

Hi Robin,
I like the position of the giraffe in the frame, it fills the whole frame and also leaves space for a decent composition. Very nice light and color tones. TFS
All the best,
Selen

Hi Robin, very well framed and exposed shot. I love the colours too, you can see how well the Giraffe matches it's environment here. Very good details DOF also, well done!
Paul

Hallo Robin,

Dis 'n mooi skoot hierdie, ek hou van die komposisie en ook van die diep diepte van veld sodat amper alles redelik in fokus is. Dit werk vir my.

Groetnis

Hi Robin. A good picture of the Male Giraffe . He looks a young one but i not to sure. You have good details in the markings with natural colours. wel ldone TFS. good notes too.
Nick..

Hello Robin,
Have to find out where exactly the transport dam is situated.
First time I hear about it.
You did a great job here. It isn't a giraffe against the sky.
The grass the background here. I guess you were lucky as well 'cause it's a rather 'small' giraffe. Probably a juvenile..?
Great to be back in Kruger. It will rain soon, I think.
Well done
TFS
