This mum travels with its kids. One is to be seen on the shot.
She kept running. With gave me quite some difficulties as I can't flash and do macro at the same time with this camera.
Some little spiders have just been spread everywhere as there is a big hole in the egg sack.

PP work: Crop, contrast and sharpening.

This is a Lycosidae (Wolf Spider). There are 260 species of wolf spiders in Europe. All listed there : www.jorgenlissner.dk/Lycosidae.aspx

Thanks for looking

JM

Hi JeanMarie , wow great spider picture , the details are great , and the clearness that the youth can be seen is perfect.

this scene is very similar to one that can be seen with a spider found in my location , called a wolf spider , it carries its egg sack in this manner as well , and when the eggs hatch the young spiders will climb up moms legs and ride on her abdomen till they are ready to 'go it alone'.

if you are interested an image of that can be found in my gallery (presently)on the fifth page called "Piggy Back Ride"

you have found this spider at a very interesting time , I imagine there is not much space between her eggs hatching and her shedding the egg sack , catching one of the babies still on that sack is very special indeed , a truly great and interesting image thanks for sharing it.
regards

Bonjour Jean-Marie,

Mariki
