[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Snow geese(Chen caerulescens) mainly eat plant material found in shallow water or on land. Outside of the nesting season, they usually feed in flocks. In winter, snow geese feed on left-over grain in fields. They migrate in large flocks, often visiting traditional stopover habitats in spectacular numbers.

Their nests are usually located in a slightly elevated location on the ground, built with plant material and lined with down. They mate for life.

The population of Greater Snow Geese was in decline at the beginning of the 20th century, but has now recovered to sustainable levels. Snow Geese in North America have increased to the point where the tundra breeding areas in the Arctic and the saltmarsh wintering grounds are both becoming severely degraded, and this affects other species using the same habitat.

Hi Doug,

A very nice shot of this Snow Goose in flight. I love the position and details of the wing and of the tail feathers. His face is wonderful - looks like he has something in his beak. Very nice blacks and whites and a good composition.

Hello Doug,
A great in-flight of a Snow Goose taken from a fine side POV with good sharpness of the head and body and with a little wing movement at the end of this down stroke. Good timing.
Thanks for sharing this image of a species that occasionally strays to Sweden.

Hi Doug. Awesome capture of this duck in flight. Framing and focus is brilliant against the clear background. I like it and well done. Regards. Jusni

Hi Doug,
This is a beautiful representation of this superb bird! I like those pastel tones of colors and details. This is not an easy shot but you managed very well to capture it in-flight and at this shutter speed! Is it another bird that we see in the low left corner? Thanks,
