The last few days Rosie and I have been exploring the wilderness areas of Pennsylvania. This morning we got up early and were in the woods at the break of dawn just as the fog was starting to lift.

I noticed this spider web from quite a distance, because of the way the sun's rays seem to illuminate it in the soft glowing light of the awaking forest.

The tiny spider was very still as I took this shot, probable because it was a little chilly and it hadn't had time to warm up yet.

The web was very visible because of the dew on it and I was amazed at the extremely intricate pattern of it's design. Simple things like this tiny web are what makes nature so interesting and exciting to me. Hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I did.

This is wonderful Ron. I love everything about it. The soft background and sharp "crookedy" branch & web are just stunning. The light and colors are gorgeous. It couldn't be better. A+

Hi Ron,

I had no idea what to expect from the thumbnail and WOW! The spider did a wonderful job spinning this web but you did an amazing job photographing it. Just perfect. It shows off so well in the wonderful lighting. The intricate details are razor sharp. Fascinating to see how it is draped around the tree. This is very different and quite marvelous.

Hello Ron,
What luck to bump into this fine spider's web against such a beautiful background! A brilliant capture, very sharp and in wonderful colours. I like the way you included the twig on the right too! Excellent work!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hy Ron
Nice pattern, in the misty forest. Well done. Oana

Great shot, love the detail of the spider's web verses the soft background. Was it a little foggy when you took the picture? It helped create a great composition.

what a terrific and clear shot, the pattern of the web looks amazing against the nice blurred background.
well done &best wishes, thor.

Hi Ron,

Wow! What a great image! Your focusing and light usage were right on the money. Such exquisite detail! The blurred background and hint of trees make the web really stand out. The spider you happened to encounter is indeed highly skilled. It's as though it had recently graduated from "web engineering" school. The spiraling to the center made me think about mathematical formulae. TFS.

Hi Ron,

A very attractive image, the branches act as a frame nicely. I think experimenting with f/stops would have been interesting, a wide-open shot would have thrown the background into softer focus, might be something to try next time, although I do like being able to tell that the photo was made in a forest, which was made possible by the stop you used.

Reminds me of back when I was in high school in the '60's and we had an anti-drug assembly where they showed us photos of the bizarre webs made by spiders that had been given LSD, not sure how that was supposed to scare us away from drugs, but it was interesting to see.

Hi Ron,

not much to say- maybe just: perfect web!

TFS, cheers

hi Ron,
the spider has created the masterpiece and you have amplified with this beautiful picture
with excellent management of light

best regards sERGIO

Hi Ron,
Absolutely positively PERFECT.

This looks like a very good spider web! Nicely captured! And I also like the fall color that I see that is in the background. Thanks for sharing! Cheers josh Lewis.

This is probably the best spider web shot I've seen yet! The whole web is perfectly in focus, and the background is yet so soft. Very well done!

great stuff Ron,
really effective composition. great depth to blur out but not obscure the background completely. nicely focused up front. great work

Ron, this is an outstanding shot. A breathtaking scene! I really like the softened background, which makes the sharp focus on the web so much more dramatic. You've captured the light in the dewdrops very well. I also like the fall colors in this scene.

This is an awesome photo! Love the composition here. Artistic and interesting. There's so much to say - all good - about this shot. Bottom line is this is an amazing shot. It's different and that's the best part.

Wow! This is the perfect web shot - one of the best I've seen. I like the inner glow of it and soft background colors.

Hi Ron,
This web is very well done. Every strand stands out clearly with nice soft fall color in the background. The branch on the right adds a nice sharp contrast.

Wow, this is quite impressive. Love the clarity of this web against the very rich and dark warm color background but softly focus wich contrast the web that is crispe and sharp so very beautiful. composition is also great, as many of us agree and love. Thanks Ron.

Hi Ron,
This is an original picture, well seen and realized. I like those tones of colors a lot. Have a Happy Christmas!

I love the contrast between the fore- and background, as well as the sharpness of the web and the blurred background.

Hi Ron,

One of the nice spider web photos... Nice focus on the web! The framing is also so awesome. The lighting and the blurred background adds more beauty to the composition!

Hello Ron !
Looking through your gallery, I immediately fell in love with this picture ! :-) I love everything - the composition, the light, the warm colors, the autumn mood with fog, the light, the shape of the black twig... It looks very quiet, very peaceful. A real pleasure for the eye. Very well done !

Very good focus and depth of field. I agree with you that these webs are what this nature thing is all about. I to have posted some web shots.

Great shot - bob

Great shot!! I love the composition and the hint of shapes and colours in the out of focus background. I too had a go at a few spider web shots, but none of mine came out to be as good as this! Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. You could study this photo for many minutes. Very good focus on the web...probably hard to do. Nice foggy, muted background with some color. Overall excellent photo.

Lovely! I really like the way you've captured the details of the web. I haven't had such luck with my spider shots. The branch on the right works well too, as a kind of frame for the picture. Well done!

great shot of the web, nice detail, it's a good crisp shot. I also love the colors

Hi Ron

This is a absolutely great capture. Well deserved for getting up early:) I love the photo and the POV. Good focus on the web and great background blurring:) Well done, Very creative and inspiring.

Ron, I enjoyed viewing this very much! You caught the image at the most appropriate moment in time! I wish I could get my lazy butt out of bed early enough to catch images such as this. But, alas, being a bachelor, I don't have a beautiful lady, such as you do, to encourage me to shake off the covers that early! Or is it the other way around? In any case... Great photograph and imagery!

Hello Ron,
this shot is simply stunning. The web is so pretty and stylish. The sharpness is so excellent with the blurry yellowish background giving a wonderful enhancement. I like the graphical composition by nature.
So well presented. Very beautiful scenery.

Hi Ron,
Nothing much to say on this one. Simply brilliant.

Beautiful colors in the background make for a nice contrast with the white web. Another great shot.

Hey Ron, this is one of the best photos i have seen. Very elusive! Thanks for sharing this charming photo.

I just saw this one of yours for the first time - very well done. I recently tried to capture a spider web on camera and found its harder than it looks!! Definitly the dew helps, as does the gentle backlighting.

Hello Ron,
Definitely intricate design by this incredible creature :)
Warmest regards Subhash

This image is hauntingly beautiful. I love the soft colors and the details of the web, this photo is a winner for sure.

Hello Ron

WOW ! what a great art and designed by the spider, superbly focused
