I was pleased to get the two tits in focus as they are both birds that do not stay still for long. The one on the left is the Coal Tit and the other is the Blue Tit.

Coal Tit ( Parus ater )Length 11-12cm.
A small resident bird which can sometimes look rather Warbler like.
It is widespread and fairly common throughtout most of mainland Britain and Ireland. Has black and white markings on head with conspicuous white patch on its nape. Back and wings are slate grey with two white wingbars and underparts pale pinkish buff.
Found in both coniferous and deciduous woodland and will visit garden bird feeders in the winter.

Blue Tit ( Parus caeruleus ) Length 11-12 cm.
A familiar garden resident in most of mainland Britain and Ireland. Often coming to Bird feeders in winter months. A common woodland species as well. Has elements of blue-green and yellow plumage with striking dark markings on head. Young similar to adult but lacking blue in plumage. Nests in tree holes and readily takes to hole fronted nest boxes. In summer feeds mainly on insects.

Hi Nic,

Thats a very lucky shot. 2 different Tits on the same spot. I think the Coal tit is a older bird then the right one. Take for instance is a look at the worn feathers. Very nice compo. like always razorsharp and enough clarity

Wonderful photo. Have a nice evening and sunday. Bob

Hi Nick,

It's always exciting capturing two bird together - especially when they are different species. These two Tits are adorable - both looking in the same direction. Beautiful colors and super sharpness. Background and composition are excellent.

Hello Nick
You done really well here capture the coal and blue tit still and in focus all in the same frame...I would like to capture just one of each!!
Superb lighting and all set against a really great bg...Top work and great observation and patience.
All the Best

Excellent capture of these two birds - and yes, they are quite fast, aren't they? I haven't managed to get one in focus yet - they seem to shy away from my camera.

Love the lighting, and DOF. It really adds character, a bit of mystery, and imagination.

Nice clear image.

A good coincidence Nicholas, catching the double cuties together! Both in sharp focus and right exposure, and that fine BG really enhances the composition. TFS this fine image my friend.

Hi Nic
Very nice image of this two bird. Background good too.
Regards Jiri.

Hello Nicholas,
Good moment as you mentioned in your note.
And you got the lighting as well...

Hi Nick
Good shot to get the two tits together like this (I know how intolerant Blue Tits usually are of Coal tits) - though I think you need to be more politically correct with your titles! I thought both species display no obvious sexual dimorphism so how do you know they are both a 'Mr' and not a 'Mrs'/'Ms'? ;p
Kind Regards

Hi Nicholas,
I know how fast these birds move even before you can focus, so this is a real success! The sharpness and light are fantastic, thanks for sharing.
