[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

this is looking North into the Solent, a stretch of water that seperates the Isle of Wight from the mainland. This particular spot is at the very tip of Hengistbury Head, a sandstone headland that juts out into the sea and is flanked by water on all but it's western reaches. I have posted quite a few shots from here before.
For some reason i woke very early today, so instead of laying around in bed i got myself up and walked to here, arriving just before sunrise. Kept asking myself what on earth i was doing at the time, but now on reflection i'm glad i made the effort!

Anyway, hope you like it and have a good weekend everybody..

Hi Paul. I am glad you got up or i would have never seen this sunrise well worth the early morning. You have captured the best part of the day as we now have 100% cloud. You had anough broken cloud to give some colour . Good rocks in the forground , I like the way the water is rushing over them. well done my friend .

Have a good sunday. an extra hour in bed.

Aaah, you are back to your medium Paul, I like your style and beginning to love that "Sigma 10-20 mm" wide angle! Such a beautiful "sunset like" sunrisescape with perfect cloud formations and water boiling over the boulders in the FG, thanks to that slow shutter speed. A pleasant to behold exaggerated perspective with great depth my friend.

When you woke up you didn't know but something in you knew: what a fantastic light for such a shot! The purple, pink and orange pain the sky and rocks, the water, everything is bathing in light. I like the rocks on the ground reflected by the clouds in the sky. Beautiful!

Hi Paul,
a very nice seascape picture, I like the composition ans POV with the horizon high up.
Well composed with great DOF, nice deep and lovely colours.
Well done.

hello Paul

beautiful landscape/seascape image of this Sunrise,
fine POV, and i love the vertical framing you gived that brings fine DOF,
and also i love the warm colour tones of the image, TFS

Isn't it strange how on some days we get this...well some sort of pull to go out even so early when normally we would be showering or listening to am news with tea or coffee..? And then it all works out as if something had a voice and called you to do this...Jungian for sure in psychology..Very nice image Paul. Your forte'!

A great sunrise Paul!
I like the way you concentrated on the effect of the sunset on the rocks and kept the rising sun to the edge of the composition. The 1/2 sec exposure is just right and gives a soft movvement of the water on the rocks in the FG.
TFS this beauty,
Enjoy your weekend,

Hello Paul

A superb capture of this sunrise.I really like how the waer is flooding in over the rock and pooling in the foreground.
The POV is terrific, and the frame well composed as usual.
Excellent colour and capture of light.
I find the foreground mesmerizing.

Hello Paul

hi paul,
very good use of your gear, technicaly and aestheticly scores well. tfs.

Wow... this is dramatic Paul. I think the 1/2 second retained enough movement and variation in the water to keep it really interesting. The colors and values are great and I like the sun just out of the frame.Lovely work

Evelynn : )

Hello Paul,

Back to your "old" medium PAUL. A dramatic sky with a beautiful sunrise. When I see the result of your early walk, then I think that this early standing up was worth.

A beauty Paul.

Thanks for sharing and TFS BOB

Hi Paul!
As I see, you decided to come back to landscape/seascape pictures :)
I like dramatic character of this one. The colours of sea and sky are very vivid, and these are another elements of this photo which I like.
All the best from cloudy Lodz!

Hi Paul

I think it's a nice feeling to know that even if you wake up way early in the morning, you have such a place close-by :)
This is a lovely sunrise shot, mate! I really like the dynamism that you integrated in your FG and the beautiful colors you caught in the upper part.
The clouds her are also lovely and add a great deal of drama for your scene. Further more, algae filled rocks near you are nice, too and add a bit more colors to the frame.
Overall: another lovely seascape!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Paul,
I prefer this one to the one I just critiqued as there's a lot of depth involved. In addition there's an effective lighting; for example on the rocks in the background.
Well done

There's so much movement and interest.
Excellent composition.
Superb POV.
Very good clarity.
Incredible light.

Exceptionally well done, Paul!

p.s this one is into my favs!

Beautiful capture Paul.
Great exposure and composition.

Hi Paul,
I've got respect for the getting up early and go out to photograph. I find it very difficult to do so on a first weekend morning, but I do need to start doing it more often. The result is certainly worthwile the early rise. The light is very beautiful and the layer of clouds got a wonderful soft tone. I really like the FG interest. The water is beautifully pooring into this little hole.

Hi Paul

From the sun highlighting the rocks, to the slow shutter speed on the water and then the perfectly composed image. This is a beauty!
