Something a bit different today! Here is one of the many streams that flow down the mountains and into one of the several huge lakes in the Lake District.
I wanted to render the moving water into a soft blur by using a long shutter speed (2 seconds) and using a tripod to keep everything else sharp.

I hope you like it!

I've just realised that it's also my 500th post on TN today! :-))) Thanks to everyone who kept me going with photography with their kind, encouraging and instructive comments!

Hi Joe,
nice to see something a bit different from you. I like the diagonal composition running from the top left to bottom right, details and exposure are both very good, well done mate!

It is beautiful Joey and your choice of speed and f/stop are judicious. The effect is wonderful and I just love the beautiful moss on the rocks, very sharp and dark. Thank you!

Hi Joe!
Today we are "almost" neighborous ;) And we both decided to show pictures of waterfalls :)
Nice image with wonderful effect of running water. I like timing and DOF.
Bravo and TFS!

Well you beat me to it...this is a type of image I like to look at but have so far failed to take....so you venture off into another genre so to speak...wow...good start...hey maybe we can add landscape imagery as a minor sort of...

500! My gosh you have been busy. I like the repeating diagonals in your composition. My preference is for a slightly faster shutter speed.... just enough to maintain some more detail and pattern in the water. It is an effective image though and it is nice to see you experiment and thereby maybe encourage the rest of us to do likewise!

Evelynn : )

Hello Joe,
a very fine macro OPS, a landscape picture i mean ;-)
Congrats on your 500th post, I hope a lot more will come.
It's well composed with the soft water in a nice diagonal.
Fine details and nice light.
Well done, myf

Hello Joe, congrats on the fantastic milestone, perfect shot to go with it, a fabulous long exposure with a very good composition and very good technique. Have a great day!

Hi OwlMan,
A superb capture of this waterfall. Congratulation that you reached 500th shots. A great work! TFS this and also thanks for your all contributions to us my friend!
Greetings from Cyprus,

Hi Joey,
Congratulation on your 500th post. Waterfalls are very appealing to me as I have recently taken an interest in them and their natural beauty be it large or small. Very nice capture and great effect with the slower shutter speed, I like the plant life that grows around the falls try pulling back and capturing some as it will add more to the scene and give more color, your's is still great though.

And 'No' I'm not bored of your critiques, I'm not really a writer and seem intimidated by the larger comments/critiques that some of the other members can whip up in a breeze especially creative people like Loot an Anna. My mind must be the size of a pea compared to theirs. Maybe I can take a writing class and spice up the skills so I feel more confident in writing comments and critiques.

I'm heading back down to the lower Amazon, I'll be starting in Peru then over to Bolivia and the back to Peru, hopefully I'll find what I was looking for the first time I went. It will be the start of the heavy rain season and it'll bring out more creatures and a different line up them, so I'm crossing my fingers and my eyes I find it.

Here's a recent project I participated in, thought you might be interested:

Take care little dude!

Hi Joe,
Congratulations for 500 postings! I can see you have gone all soft now mate;o) I haven't tried this kind of photography myself. If this is your first it really is a successful start, even if it isn't its PRO level picture anyway. I really like the dream-like feeling you have created. Well done!

Hi Joe,

It's so nice that you chose something we would not expect to celebrate your big 500. I usually agree with you but I don't think we who love you here on TN have much to do with keeping you going. You are a wonder!! I love waterfalls and can never figure out the proper settings. You didn't have that problem. It's beautiful. And the diagonal composition is superb. Here's to the next 500!

Hello Joe,
Congratulations on your 500th posting. Your photo's came as fast as the water of this waterfall. Beautiful 'experiment'.
Great colours, sharpness and diagonal composition.

Hi joey; beautiful picture of this landscape.amazing shot with superb details and good colours.Very nice composition. i celebrate your 500.post.TFS

Hi Joe
Congrats on your 500th! A good shot of this little cascade - did you get to see any Dippers when you were in the Lake District?
Kind Regards

Congratulations on 500 POSTS! That's awesome!! Love the shutter speed effect. Great how the rocks are so dark, giving a fabulous contrast with the water.

Mr Joe

You have displayed another feather here that you should not keep hidden. The chunk of rock that underpins this shot makes it for me. Good composition combined with top timing makes this a winner.

Congrats on your 500th post! Also nice photo! Although there's not much color, probably how it looked. But if you use a little bit less shutter speed and less f/stop, it will add more motion to the photo, but its just my perspective. Well done, and did you say you went to the mountains?

Hello Joe

A beautiful and artistic capture of this waterfall.
The timing is very good with excellent exposure.
I like the well placed green of ferns, moss and leaves to provide a little accent colour.
Nicely composed in the frame.
A lovely post to mark a milestone here on TN.

This also proves what a master you are in photography, Joe! Whatever you try you manage it successfully and with excellent technique. The result is really beautiful.
Congratulations on your 500th and thank you very much for every one of them.

Hi Joe,
Already you 500th??? man you are uploading those photos fast. it does show your great dedication to nature, photography and this site.
Its nice to see a change in your gallery and it shows that you are willing to try a different aspect of this great hobby. The slow shutter gave the water a nice silky effect and great details throughout the entire photo.

I don't know how I missed it in the title when I looked at this, but, congrats on your 500th post.
You've posted as many shots in a year and a half as I have in four years!
Now thats dedication.
I haven't had too much luck at taking scenes like this before, but I was just using point and shoot on auto.
Now I know how to shoot properly in manual I'm sure I'll do better.
Beautiful capture of this waterfall Joe.
The long exposure makes it look really good.
Great work!
