[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Blue Flag also known as a Wild Iris which grows along river banks.

The Province of Quebec's flower, "Fleur de lis" Flower of Louis, which is not to be confused with Louis of France. More info, go to my very early pics, you'll find more there.

Going the Extreme, toying around with the cam,
I set the ISO at 1600
1/800 at F5.6
No flash, no tripod, evening shot, hand held
In photoshop elements, slight crop from the top, resize for web, adjusted the levels slightly. a usm. neat image to rid of noise in background caused by the usm, there was hardly if any on the original. I like the highpass better, it causes less noise then the usm.

Very nice. I like the short DOF. Great colors.

Beautiful! Perfect depth of field... interesting the effect of changing your ISO so much.

Superbe photo Mike, très bonne gestion de la profondeur de champs.

Hello Mike,

This is beautiful, just beautiful. Very arty, wonderful colors, excellent details, very well composed and perfect exposure. Well done & TFS!

Beautiful picture, Mike.
Great colours, very good details, well composed and nice soft BG. You handle the 20D great, my friend.
Excellent work.

My favorite flower! This is such a nice shot of this lovely flower. I like the sharp lines in the flower in contrast to the soft background. Well done.

This is a stunning photo of this lovely flower, Mike.
Colors, detail, BG and DOF are great.
I have been looking for a few moments....but I don't see a bug! Everything ok? ;-)
Well done on this beauty, thank you.

Good flower picture, very good colours and good composition, I like the softness of the green background around the purple flower.
I see that you are revealing the DSLR's benefits :)

Hi Mike, excellent use of selective Dof. Very nice colours and a great BG.
Very well done.

Mike, I have said it before: I like your experiments. This one turned out better than I would have thought. ISO 1600.. You must be James Kirk. "to boldly go..." :)

It rendered a lovely soft effect. A smaller aperture to get the back leaves in and it would have been perfect. Any noise removal done?

attractive plant and attractive composition, I like the symetry. Background is fine IMO.

Beautiful photo!
The DOF is more than perfect, the colours and lightning are excellent.
I like the photo very much.
