From my point of view, the light isn't awful, it creates a particular atmosphere and allows to render natural colours. Even a rather dark and somehow sad atmosphere has its attractive side.

Lovely work! Maybe the grey sky makes the BG a bit uninteresting, but with this foreground all the BG has to do is not distract, and it does the job well! Great use of the long exposure, superb POV and very striking composition.
VERY WELL DONE!

it does look a grey day but the foreground is stunning so who's caring perhaps you could crop some off the top so your eye stays within the inlet. or a bit of dodge and burn on the rocks.tfs

Hi mate :)
This is fantastic! Really...it left me speechless!
The world seems to be caving in here and the way you managed to create that impressive feeling is astounding! Absolutely brilliant!
Terrific work with the shutter speed effect here and exceptional timing - catching that foam as it descends the cracked rocks.
...And the impressive part is that it doesn't only happen in the FG...it goes on and on and the vertical cliff in the BG elongates this atmosphere all the way. (that might not sound too "English" but i think you get it :)
A truly magnificent job here!
BRAVO and TFS
PS: i wanted to add this to my favorites but i get a message that i've already reached the limit although i only see 99 ??? So sorry about that...it really deserve a star!

Nice Camera and lens wotk. Beautiful colors and sharpness. Should be nice to be there I guess. The effect on water due to exposure is amazing.

Ohhhh. I looked at the image, then quickly to the notes. somehow I felt immediately the grey....and it projects right out of the image...in your quality of immense variety, you have the ability to show feelings and weather and all of the natural elements.........I can so no more but than you are still as good as you were the day I first lade eyes on your photos!

another gem from our landscape expert, i loved the effect created by slow shutter speed, the details on the rock looks great, excellent work my friend,
tfs & regards
A very impressive capture with great impact Paul.
Without a filter of any kind,I struggle to achieve this long exposure effect in anything but the darkest environment.
Either I'm doing something wrong,or my camera is limited. I certainly can't do f/16 - the Lumix only goes up to f/8
You've managed to get great DOF and good detail in the cliffs too.
Its a great shot all around really.

Amazing this hole, I have the feeling that the water would drag me in there.. I like the light, giving this beautiful grey coloration to the picture, even if you thought it was bad. Excellent low point of view. In this picture the white color of the water doesn't bother me.
Thanks. Bonne journée.

Very well captured milky effect in the waves. Also a great POV and selection of frame. Overall a great composition. Also the DOF is commendable.

I like the almost mono look of this photo. The FG is certainly the main attraction of this photo. This time its a very impressive flow of water. Its almost a photo that doesn't need a distant view.

How amazing and beautiful! Even under so dark sky, what a fantastic picture and wonderful job you did here! I love the composition with the effect of the waters on the fissure. It's really stunning.
Thank you very much for sharing.

I agree with Monika (thistle) that the BG only has to not take away from the foreground. Terrific capture of the water flow, which is everything here. I suspect that in full sunlight, the result would have been nowhere near as good- too much light without a serious ND filter to hold the aperture, shutter, and ISO where you have them here.
The topography is captivating. The fissure doesn't seem high enough to be draining back into the ocean in the BG. It's almost like an MCEscher print where the relative elevations of floors & roofs are skewed! Any insight on the effect- did you do anything specific to enhance that?
