[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I'm going to see if I can get a book on Japanese dragonflies so that I can identify these fellows. Today I took lots of photos and have finally been able to achieve decent closeups, though it's still a bit of a hit and miss (mostly miss) affair. (Need a better digicam.)
I saw a great variety of species today, including some extraordinary ones which I'd never seen before (need a better digicam). This particular one was make a clicking (or crunching) noise as it was eating something.
Two days ago as I was driving into Utsunomiya city, about an hour before sunset, there were thousands of dragonflies all flying southwards - interesting phenomenon, perhaps due to the getting-more-noticeable change over to autumn.
USM applied for sharpness, then cropped to fit on this site. The size of the dragonfly within the image hasn't changed. |

The compo and details looks great. The details seem sharp. One question though, why did you decide on a smaller photo size?

Great shot David and I must echo Gerhard, why didn't you use a bigger picture - it is very good.
As for the ID you can bet your bottom dollar it is a Symetrum species, which one - I don't know, sorry.
Good work and nice descriptive note.
I like this ones, with landscape and sharp, I wish it was a bit larger.
