Most will never know....My wife and I , on Oct 8th this year celebrated our 43rd anniversary...In 1968 we had our first child Robert. Then came Christopher, then Patricia, then Donald, then Billy, then Daniel, then David.

David graduated from High school in 2006, the year I took this image and the last time we lived in the wilderness...For forty years we had an obligation and some dash of something...perhaps magic, allowed us all to be together in the wilderness in 1992.

Jane and I now live in urban housing for the po' folks...Our children are all scattered....it is such an unusual feeling after all those years...you cannot imagine..our whole lives were as child raisers..that's all we did...and now I am reminded today as the clouds cover and it gets colder..of my wilderness..

The Kettle River and Valley of my Wilderness
for everyone who knows...

Its a still life water color,
Of a now late afternoon,
As the sun shines through the curtained lace
And shadows wash the room.
And we sit and drink our coffee
Couched in our indifference,
Like shells upon the shore
You can hear the ocean roar
In the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs,
Are the borders of our lives.

And you read your emily dickinson,
And I my robert frost,
And we note our place with bookmarkers
That measure what weve lost.
Like a poem poorly written
We are verses out of rhythm,
Couplets out of rhyme,
In syncopated time
Lost in the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs,
Are the borders of our lives.

Yes, we speak of things that matter,
With words that must be said,
Can analysis be worthwhile?
Is the theater really dead?
And how the room is softly faded
And I only kiss your shadow,
I cannot feel your hand,
You're a stranger now unto me
Lost in the dangling conversation.
And the superficial sighs,
In the borders of our lives.

Hi Bob,
Hi Bob,

But you and Jane still have each other! That is one of the biggest blessings of all. Not only do you have wonderful memories of your wilderness but you have all these marvelous pictures to gaze upon. Beautiful scene, a Simon and Garfunkle favorite - how much nostalgia can I take in one day?

Hello Bob
The soft ambience tonalities have very fixed the moment of the release with soft colors. Wonderful atmosphere with fog and clouds going down from the valley

Hi Bob
I got some caching up to do.I just got back from visiting family and freezing my ... off in Wisconsin. It was fine growing up in it but don't seem to like it as much any more. I really like this scene you have posted.Great composition with the misty foggy atmosphere in the hills. Nice color in this wonderful landscape. TFS
Best regards

A fine river scene with pleasant greeneries Bob, and yes, that all encompassing foggy weather... It looks good in such a scene, I know, but I've been in such weather conditions many times in the eastern Black Sea region of Anatolia, that dampnes permeates everything and everywhere, till you feel the cold in your bones... Well, maybe it is different in your wilderness Bob, it sure looks perfectly exposed and composed on my screen!

hello Bob

when i read your storys in the wilderness
i think to Dick Proenneke, who lived
his dream in the Alaska Wilderness.

i am sure you know about him

very beautiful ladscape image of the river and the mountains,
with always fine POV and DOF, i love the fogs of the background,

Hello My Friend,
What an incredible beautiful landscape and note. Fantastic work Bob, thank you.

Hello Bob.
I find very interesting this joining for images and facts that you always reported.
Congratulations not only by the beautiful image but also for the note.

Namastay Bob,
This picture of yours reminds me of a place here in Orissa that is in Koraput District in the south west of Orissa. The view is very similar in the rainy season here. Very well composed with lovely view. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Bob,

This is a very fine landskape photo. I like the way you have sharply shown the trees in the first plane of the image. Then the waves of fog define other planes of the image developing and giving depth. Water in front and fogy sky in the background have something in common so that forest between is only a small psrt of the circle.

Thank you for sharing,

Thank you for this moving look at your life Bob, the words of Simon and Garfunkel, and this wonderful picture from your home valley.
This looks so very much like the Waipa River valley where I lved in the house at Pirongia with my ex-wife and children.
That too seems like a lifetime ago now, although it was only just under 4 years ago that we left there. So much has changed since.
Its something I suppose to at least still have the photographs, and the memories.
Thanks for sharing his.

Hi Bob!

I can't say much... it's so difficult to pack emotions in words. It's touching and delicate. The text and the notes are complementary and harmonic. Although I can feel some sadness in your words, I believe that harmony is very important to you and that your new environment does not spend it that much. Maybe the souvenirs and pictures like this one can help you to find the "inner" harmony...

That's what I wish you...

Kind regards

Hello Bob

A beautiful capture of this river valley.
The mist adds atmosphere.
The diagonal flow of the hills has nice repetition,
Excellent composition from a well thought out POV.
