I didn't see many of this species last summer, they're beauties and you show a fine side-view here as a complement to your previous dorsal view. Great details and natural colours and well cvomposed.

Hello Marie,
I like the side POV of this H. pendulus, a species that is so often shown from a dorsal view. Nice focusing and sharpness that even shows the stinging hairs of the nettle leaf that it has settled on. Nice lighting and composition too.

A "swamp lover" captured expertly from a lateral POV, which is not usually preferred for a hoverfly Marie, but I'm glad you preferred this aspect as your main image to the more usual dorsal aspect given in the WS. Here the powerful thorax is more evident and it is easier to see the huge eye covering the whole anterior part of the face. TFS this revealing image.

To my great surprise, I saw and shot a Hoverfly in my school today, Marie. I thought they had all gone in April this year.
Apparently, you took this image in summer and it is a prize shot. The image gives the effect as if the Hoverfly is made from gold.
The eye in particular has been captured extremely well.

Tu nous présentes une belle prise de vue rapprochée qui met bien en évidence les particularités de cet insecte. La lumière du flash crée des contrastes assez dures, mais n'est pas du tout dérangeante. La bonne netteté souligne des détails intéressants. En plus, j'aime beaucoup des notes instructives.
