[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
hello friends, when i first shot this image today
i said myself it will my next photo to post, but just
before posting i asked myself is this a :
« TNable » image, i thinked then i came to the conclusion
TN it is not a photo contest place, it is a place
to share our images shot in the nature and it is
one of the reasons i decide why to post it

the other reasons are, i always wanted to shoot
in photo Gray Partridge, it is only the 3rd time in
my life i see this speecies of bird, the first time it was
in october 2004, i was driving in country road when
suddenly in agriculture field i saw a cie of Grays Partridge,
i stopped the car, took my very fisrt P&S camera,
i went up from the car and when i closed the door
they all fly up, since that day i never saw again
Gray Partridge until last sunday, when i was looking
for the Snowy Owl while driving the car i saw
a cie of Gray Partridge, stoped the car and when
i went up from the car again they all fly up

today at the same area as last sunday when
i was driving very slowly the car searching
the Snowy Owl, i saw near the entrance of a farm
another cie of Gray Partridge, this time i decide
to stay in the car and shoot my photo from it

but then i decide to go out from the car to have
better condition of photographing, better POV,
again they fly up and went far on the agriculture field

i will go several other times on that area
searching the Snowy Owl and Gray Partridge,
and i wish for me to do better shots of Gray Partridge

today i am presenting you this photo

photo shot with my D-SLR-Like bridge style
Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd, ISO400, RAW format

i forget to tell that the
temperature was -14 celcius

from the New Hampshire Public Television
Nature Works website :

« The gray partridge is a non-native species in North America.
It is originally from Europe and Asia. It was introduced
to North America as a game bird and is now found
in British Columbia and in parts of south central Canada.
It is also found in the north central United States.

The gray partridge lives in open areas,
farmland, grasslands and brush.

Gray partridges are non-territorial during
the non-breeding season and live in large groups
or coveys.Males can be aggressive towards each other
during mating season. Males and females pair
up in the spring for mating. »

Salut Asbed,
Très chanceux d'avoir pu photographier ces perdrix. Cet oiseau est très photogénique.

Hi Asbed,

I am glad that you were able to get a shot of the gray partridge. I suppose you learned what a good blind a vehicle can be. Sometimes that is the only way one can get a shot of animals. You are correct, TN should not be a contest. The subject captured, the quality of the note, and your interest and enthusiasm are equally important. You have a lot of snow already on the ground. We may get a few inches this weekend.

Hi Asbed,

You have all this snow right now???? I would not be out taking pictures in that weather. I have to look up what -14 is. These Partrides don't seem to mind the cold or the snow. The one at the end of the clearing does seem to be hesitating about the rough stuff. Maybe you have a shot of them following this one. I like your notes - and I agree with you 100%.

Hi Asbed, a fantastic capture of these perdix on snow. wonderful details and sharpness. Nice composition.
TFS and cheers,

#1...VERY hard to shoot these in imagery in snow..I have several and they came out very poor with good gear too and I was close in...so you do not lack much in that area at all...

#2...We are in for it Asbed..Coming in tomorrow...watch for our areas weather on the national news..now remember what happens in Seattle is 2-3X worse here...maybe even more in the wilderness only 2 hours north of me..

Hi Asbed,
You are correct. This not a photo contest entry :)
Seriously though, TN is a photo sharing site first & foremost. Hopefully one can learn about the natural world around us through regular participation.
I've always appreciated your enthusiasm mf.

Bonsoir Absed ,
Belle prise de vue de ces jolies petittes poules comme on les surnomme ici :) Beau travail !

Hello Asbed

This is a very good capture of these grey partridge.
I see many birds and things as I drive around too.
The last time I saw grey partridge was the day I bought my new lens from the camera shop and it was still in the box on the seat next to me.So I missed the shot.lol.
The plumage detail shows well enough.

Hi Asbed,

nice picture of this couple Partridge.
Nice pov and good of sharpness.

Ciao Asbed,
splendida cattura di Starne, ottimi POV basso e composizione con BG della neve che esalta il frenetico dinamismo degli uccelli in fuga, buona definizione.

Hello Asbed,
We have the same species in Europe and they are hard to photograph. Here you did a fine job capturing the Gray Partridge in the snow with excellent light management. A well taken opportunity from your car.
Well done Asbed and thanks for sharing this fine capture.

Hello Asbed

Lovely shot, nice composition with good detail. I am moaning because it is cold here today - it is around -1C - we never get temperatures like that - or as much snow. we do however, have lots of these partridges - I see them everyday :) for us the rare one is the red legged partridge which was introduced to the UK - like the Grey was to you!

Brrr Asbed, splendid winter composition with lovely Perdixs, great light and excellent sharopness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Interesante documento de esas perdices en la nieve. Lástima del ruido electrónico que desvirtúa un poco la toma.
Saludfos: Josep Ignasi.

Hi Asbed

I totally agree with your comment that TN is not a place for a photo contest, it is quite rightly a place for learning about nature through photography. I think this lovely image fits the brief perfectly here. It is interesting to see this group of partridges and you were very lucky to get the shot. I don't drive so never get the chance to do things like this. Wonderful winter image
