I would like to wish all a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year and for those that don't celebrate Christmas I wish a very prosperous New year.

I took this picture this past Sunday, it was my first sunset at the Grandest of them all and it was coooold!

Prior to European emigration, the area was inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. The Pueblo people considered the Grand Canyon ("Ongtupqa" in Hopi language) a holy site and made pilgrimages to it. The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was García López de Cárdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540. In 1869, Major John Wesley Powell, a one-armed Civil War veteran made the first recorded journey through the canyon on the Colorado River. Powell referred to the sedimentary rock units exposed in the canyon as "leaves in a great story book"

Hi Everton,

I've seen a sunrise at the Grand Canyon but not a sunset and certainly never with snow. A wonderful view with natural Canyon colors and a beautiful pink and blue sky. I hope you are having a very Merry Christmas.

Hi Everton

A very impressive landscape. The grand scale and enormity of the scene is breathtaking. I've seen shots like this where someone (imagine) would have advised that there should have been a person, in a red sweater, standing on the edge of the cliff to provide some perception of dimension. Anyone in mind who would have been brave enough (chuckle)?

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

PS. Pardon me for my short comment as I am rather pushed for time this year. It is more important that I want to thank you for the friendship you extended to me during this past 2008. Also, I want to wish you and your loved ones a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year. May this Christ-fest and the imminent 2009 bring you everything that is beautiful and admirable, provide all your needs with blissful abundance, present you with that which is edifying and inspiring, grant you blessed peace and harmony, and bestow upon you a myriad of worthwhile pleasures and breathtaking moments with close friends and dear family.
