Toasted Bats [Sandwich of Bats]

Three days ago, I noted I would post a member of the family EMBALLONURIDAE, which is one of six bat families represented in Turkiye.
This and Pteropodidae dont occurs in Europe, except for Turkiye.
Emballonuridae members have interesting uropatagium (tail membran) and tail, which their tail projects middle part of uropatagium, similar an umbrella. Already its Latin name means "umbrella tailed [=Şemsiyekuyruklu]. You can see such a tail on Workshop.
This family is represented by one species in our country: Taphozous nudiventris - Çıplakkarınlı Yarasa [TR], Naked-rumped Tomb Bat [EN].
This species has been known only from Nizip District (Gaziantep Prov.) near Syrian border.
I also observed this species in Syria when our (with Mustafa Sözen) mammalogical trip in this country. A post from this trip can be seen on TN.
This bat prefers to roost among rock crevices at height of 3-4 m or more high, as like one in this post. I also add another shot for showing its total appearance.

The species' Turkish and English vernacular names and also Latin name refer its naked ventral "nudi+ventris" side. At the end of of body, fat deposites and without hairs.
I hope like it.

PS: As seen in my previous post for Tadarida teniotis, the bats have tragi situated in front of external ears [pinna]. The "tragus" [pl. tragi] is a small pointed eminence in humans, but it is different in bats. Some bats dont have such a process, e.g. Fruit Bats of the family Pteropodidae. Hovewer, most of bats have long tragi, e.g. the family Vespertilionidae (especially the genus Plecotus). As for the family Molossidae, they have both of tragus and antitragus, e.g. Tadarida teniotis. In my last post, the bat's ear looked like injurred or split into two part. Actually it is an antitragus.
In today's post, if you look at bats's ears and you will see mushroom shaped tragi.

PS: The title is originated after Selene Ediger (selene)'s critique. They look like really a sandwich, between two rocks. Many thanks to Selen Hanım.

Merhaba Ahmet,
A remarkable foto of two Naked-rumped Tomb Bats that really look like they are sandwiched between two branches or posiible wedged in the crevice of a tree trunk.
Whatever, it is a fine sharp and interesting capture that illustrates the species well.
Thank you for sharing what must be a new one for TN.
My best wishes to you and your family for the festive season and a Happy, succesful and Healthy 2009 to you and your family,

Trabajo de gran habilidad y como no belleza... había que estar allí. Buen documento.
Te deseo también unas buenas fiestas y mejor 2009.
Un abrazo: Josep Ignasi.

Hi Ahmet,

You are changing my mind about bats! These two are beautiful and you have presented them in a wonderful fashion. Those faces are actually beautiful with their pretty shining eyes. I'm laughing because they do look like a sandwich! The workshop photos are excellent too. All are of the highest quality with natural colors and fine details. I can honestly say I am looking forward to seeing more of your bats. Thank you for the education.

Hello Ahmet,
Indeed, it does look like a Bat sandwich! :-)
It is amazing how these animals find little crevices to hide in. I love the way the big ears stand out and details are very sharp with nice focus on their eyes. Excellent work!
TFS and kind regards, Ulla
