The Mighty Columbia appears very different in your neck of the woods than it does here in the Gorge country. In ways it appears more tame, and in others the vbarrn landscape appears more rugged. The "wilderness" where you call home must be an inviting locale where one finds solitude and peace distant of today's current events.
I did not know of this Ferry in the Colville Reservation, I will have to look it up one day and see where it takes me ^^^... A great beginning to a long dusty ride to that home that you call Wilderness where no man owns, and the spirits of all living entities dwell...
Great shot here my friend...

Here you are, it is actually a mighty Columbia. The terrain looks great with beautiful river & water line flowing through it. TFS.

A beautiful scene of the Columbia and so interesting to see the watermark. I'm so glad you posted this. One of the most delightful trips I have taken in the US was a cruise on the Columbia. It was the only time I visited the northwest and it was before my camera days so no pictures at all. I learned more about Lewis and Clark than I knew there was to learn.

Excellent image of the mighty Columbia, when we crossed it on our way to see you, I couldn't believe how windy it was. She has her roots in Canada. Your image shows well the low flow at that time, along with the beautful countryside. Great work my friend especiel with one eye.

Beautiful country Bob,
I've never been to this part of the US., but hopefully someday Rosie and I will get out for a visit.
I would never have guessed that the dark lines were water marks. At first glance I thought it was something like a vein of coal or some mineral layer.

The diagonal line of the Columbia river is an asset to the composition. The point of view takes our eyes toward the mountains in the background which is giving depth to the photo. The intensity of the light is enhancing the colors of the scenery. All the best for the New Year 2009.
