Hello,

a belated but heartfelt Happy New Year to you all! After a busy christmas break followed by being led low with a nasty illness for quite a few days (not man flu!), i am very happy to be back here amongst my friends here on TN. Hope you're all well and looking forward to what 2009 brings you :o)
I took this yesterday, the first time i've been out with my camera for about 4 days. This spot is at the mouth of Poole Harbour, just as the sun was going down with an extremely cruel wind nipping at my fingers and face.
Immeasurable tonnes of sand are washed up at this spot by the incoming tide, and these stone groynes do their best to stop the drifting deposition from clogging up the harbour, which has to be dredged regularly to allow shipping to continue...

Thanks for looking...

Paul,

Every time I look at your work, I say to myself ... "maybe one day I'll take shots like that as well". I find your work really impressive. Composition, scenery, colors and POV are all top notch. You set a high standard when it comes to landscape photography. Great work and TFS. Best wishes for 2009!

Best Regards,

Martin

Hi Paul,
You make Dorset look more and moore beautiful. Another amazing view, great POV and composition, good DOF, beautiful colours and lighting.
TFS
Pekka

And a Happy New Year to you too my friend, sincerely hope you are feeling better now. As usual, your wide angle shot with great depth and the silkily boiling water in the foreground, the result of your longish exp. time make me feel much better already!
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Paul
Lovely shot of Sandbanks at sunset. You can just make out Old Harry Rocks on the horizon. The light and spray of the waves are fantastic.
Kind Regards
Vinny
PS - At the time you shot this I was filming a huge flock of Starlings near Dorchester and it was decidedly cold there too! My wife and I had also been to Portland earlier in the day but a nasty bank of English Channel murk meant the sun didn't even appear in that part of the world.

hello Paul

another of your beautiful Landscape compositions,
fine POV and DOF, i love the contrast of one side of the image
the warm colour tones of the sun and the other side
the cold colour tones of the water and sky, TFS

Happy and Healthy New Year

Hi Paul,
Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year!Yes I do look forward to being here..A lovely shot, very well composed.
Thanks!
Goldy

Wow.... wonderful light Paul. It is really a stunning photo. I am glad you are felling better and were able to get out and get this shot. Being out in a "cruel wind" doesn't sound like the best medicine for one who is recuperating, but an artist such as yourself won't let a little cold stop him I suppose. I hope 2009 is filled with more such photo opportunities.

Take care,
Evelynn : )

Hi Paul,

Amazing shot. Water motion frozen on the rocks, the rocks shining with the sun light, different colors in the sky and a peaceful beach. Love it.

Sowmya

Hallo Paul
This is an idyllic scene and most pleasant view to admire. The arrangement of colours in the sky is amazing and most relaxing to look at. Just like the sky creates a tranquil mood, so does the mist of the water falling over the rocks. A really delightful view filled with lots of feeling of harmony. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Paul,
Fine landscape using the evening light delicately. Fine contrast, bit more to the left side, I feel and colors. I wish you could have restrained using the grad filter here. The scene would have looked better. tfs.

Hi mate

A very Happy New Year, to you, too and may it bring you health (first of all) and only happiness (because that includes all the rest)!
Sorry to hear you've been ill but i'm glad that you're over that now and back out shooting.
This is a lovely January sunset and one with a very beautiful colors everywhere. The graduation from the sky is well reflected in the lower part, too, with the cooler tones of the water contrasting the warm and glittering reflections on the rocks.
The shape of the rock mass here is also great and points toward the horizon, taking with it the eye of the viewer.
Finally, the shutter speed is well thought of and rendered that lovely splash of the waves superbly.
Lovely work, my friend!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

PS: i think we'll be voting for our location and time for the TN meeting this weekend or next week...keep an eye on the forum, too.

Hi Paul
Another mesmerizing sunset in your gallery. Great colors, perfect exposure, great low POV
I like it very much

Hi Paul,
Great to see a photo from you again. I'm sorry to read that you had to close your year with a illness especially since it were some days off. I hope that this year will treat you better.
This is a lovely photo with very beautiful light. I especially like how the spray had turned out in it. The clear sky suits the winter feel pefectly.
TFS,
Niek

P.S. did you see the little water spot in the top center?
