Unknown beetle

Unfortunately I couldn't find the ID of this dark beetle.
I show it, because it had such a funny pose in balance at the top of a seed-bud. And it's also a little bit the way I feel at the beginning of this year!
I'm very grateful if someone can give the name of the species.

Thanks to all TN members wo gave a proposal for an ID.
Finally I think that the ID is most probably:

DORCUS PARALLELOPIPEDUS, a species of the Lucanidae-family

The picture has been taken in Bern, close to a pond.

Hello anne,
a lucanidea? I'm not sure...
Great capture.
Pierre

Hi Anne,
ich würde sagen das ist ein Körniger Schaufelläufer Cychrus caraboides.
Der "hängt" da so richtig ab ...
Schönes Bild, der Panzer glitzert so schön.
Gruß
Sabine - wishnugaruda

Hallo Anne
I like the way this insect has draped itself over the edge of the plant. It looks as if it prepared itself well for a photographic session. I also cannot help you with the ID but I know I have seen it before, so I am sure one of the fundi's will identity it soon. This is a lovely and clear macro of this rather large beetle. The rough texture of the body is obvious and almost has a wet appearance. It is rather strange to leave a note at one of your postings, which is not that of a beautiful butterfly as I have come to know your field of expertise. This is never the less a great image of this pitch black beetle.
Best regards.
Anna

Very funny posture of this Beetle, perched like that on the seed pod, Anne :)!
I think it is enjoying itself, playing see-saw.
The image is very sharp and clear with minute details on the thorax and abdomen.
Best regards.
Ram

Hi Anne

I am not a beetle specialis but it is not Cychrus caraboides I think that it is a member of family Lucanidae (probably Dorcus parallelopipedus)

Very nice sharp image with great blured background

hello Anne!
I'm not sure, why only seen from the side, but could be a species similar >this

Liebe Anne,

TFS.
Maurizio

Hello Anne,
You have captured excellent detail in the armor of this beetle. The balance of the beetle on the seed pod is as perfect as is your capture of its likeness. The background could not be better! A great capture... Sorry to hear that you have not regained your inner ear problem, you must have gotten a bad cold from the cold-Cold temperatures in the Alps this winter. Keep warm,
Steve

Hello Anne. Very good capture. Like the DOF & sharpness. Well done. Regards - Adil.

Hi Anne. Well i see by now you have had a few ID of the Beetle. What ever it is you have taken a first class close up. I like the pose on the top of the plant . Good detail in the black shell which stands out so from the plain green BG. well done TFS.

hello Anne

Good macro close up. It looks like the 2 front legs are hanging and he might have over stepped out and doing a balancing act here.

Good sharpness, perhaps I would think a bit of brightening up the levels and curves will show better clarity. Superb choice of using the bokeh and direction of light for this highlight of the insect.

Hi Anne.
What a cute scene and brilliant reproduction of the impressive beetle. Insect on the pick of leaf is looked very attractively and light strips on an absolutely smooth and nicely coloured BG are amazing too. Bravo. Well done and TFS.
Alexei.

Witaj Anne,
Ciekawe ujecie - żuczek wygląda jak nabity na gałązkę.
Bardzo dobra głębia ostrości i kadr. Ładne jednolite tło podkreśla owada.
Gratuluję i pozdrawiam

Wasfür ein gewaltiger Käfer, sieht schon bedrohlich. Ich habe mir gerade vorgestellt, er wäre 2-3-m groß ...

I think you captured an interesting moment in the bug's life. Either it is really tired or it had enough with this life as a beetle and pleads the lord to free itself:))

Amazing details.

Bonsoir Anne,
A great macro of Dorcus parallelopedus. I like the position on the top of a seed pod or stem and the POV and sharpness are excellent, as is the lighting and composition with the neutral Bg.
Thanks for sharing this fine image.
Bon weekend,
Amicalement,
Ivan
