[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These are Hardhead or White-eyed Duck (Aythya australis), a moderately common duck that occurs throughout Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Hebrides Islands and New Zealand. The male is on the left, with the white eye, the female on the right with the dark eye. The bill colour is a very pale blue.
They are a diving duck that generally live on deeper freshwater wetlands where they feed on water plants and aquatic invertebrates. They live in pairs, small groups and occasionally groups of hundreds. Like many Australian ducks they are highly nomadic, moving to wetlands that are filled by periodic rains. In coastal areas they can appear in their hundreds for a few months, then disappear for years at a time.
I found this pair on a small ornamental wetland at Mittagong on the southern tablelands. It was a sunny late afternoon, so the tones are quite warm.
Thanks for looking.

Hello Chris,

I really like the white eye of the duck in the FG, very well captured. If these ducks are white eyed ducks then why does the duck in the BG have a black eye? Details are good and composition is nice. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Chris, very nice effect upon the water. Excellent sharpness, pov and composition. I have the feeling that the duck on the left has a strange eye, but that's just a feeling, an opinion.

I enjoy colors too.

A very nice capture.

Hi Chris,
These ducks create a nice composition.
I like the warm light on the wings of the ducks.
I also like the reflections in the water.
Amicalement,
