Hi friends in TN,

I found this little Gram blue hovering close to the ground in my backyard. I reached out for my camera in the car at that time and managed a few shots perched on a blade of grass before it flew away.

Euchrysops cnejus(Gram Blue)

The male of the Gram Blue is light purple whilst the female is rather heavily black-dusted with the wing bases pale shining blue. The underside is pale buff, with the usual lycaenine markings as spots and striae. The spots in the costal and basal areas of the hindwing are black and very distinct. The black submarginal spots near the tails are edged with metallic green scaling and inwardly crowned with orange. The species also possesses a pair of string-like tails.

The species is common in localized areas where its food plant can be found. The host plant is a creeper-like "pea plant" with three leaves on a node. The plant has yellow flowers and pea-like processes on which the female is often observed laying her eggs. The Gram Blue prefers open areas flying low on grassy waste.

Thanks for viewing!

Hi Jusni,
Fine capture of this beautiful blue butterfly with details and composition. Using flash made colors bit unnatural but may be the light was poor really. tfs.

Hello Jusni, great close-up shot of this butterfly. i liked the metalic spots on its wing.
TFS and G's,

Hello Jusni,
thank for your critique.
Your butterfly has very fine details and a good DOF/POV.
Maybe if you use a smaller F-stop, your background would be more blurry.
Best regards

Salam Jusni,
superbs shot of this lovely blue. Sharpness is well noted as the hairs at the edge are very clear. That is the most difficult thing to do when shooting small creature like this guy. You have exploited well with f29. Many people would ask why 29?
So this is the answer, as Ram also mentioned that macro lens is a bit different.
Well composed in its elegance, of the eye and the pose.
Enjoy CNY.

Your flash again! It works so well and seems to be getting better all the time..I wish I had the gear for this, but sufficing with images as good as this one will have to do for now!
