These three Canadian Geese were sitting for a bit on an island in the middle of the Kettle River. I took several images of them sitting and watching, then they just took off....headed North...but maybe they come back...the island is there most of the year although the river is usually frozen solid in winter.

It had been 5 years since I had been to British Columbia, even though it is only 5 miles north of this location. I had a special CB radio in the car as well as a scanner and a radar detector. This plus all of the antennas and wiring made it extremely hard to get across the border without being searched for 2 hours...Canada does not allow US citizens to bring some things in which are legal in the US..and vs versa,...it is convoluted and one must remember all sorts of trivia when talking to border guards..some of whom we have even known for years...but it's their job...

Lucky for the geese that they don't have to have passports:-) Lucky for me that I was ready for them this day as they flew away

Hello Bob,
I thought my points were finished but find I have one left and that'll be for this lovely capture from your archives! There's certainly truth in the saying 'as free as a bird'!! I'm glad you managed to capture these at the right moment as they left their reflections in the lovely blue water too. A lovely composition in beautiful colours.
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Bob,

I find a certain fascination in this picture. The Geese have had enough of ice skating and are taking off for home. The reflections of the three in the water are amazing. Is it warming up there at all?

Hi Bob. Great refection in the water of the birds. A good picture showing the different stages of take off. i like very much the colours in the water. well done TFS.

A fine capture of the trio in flight Bob, which actually makes six, counting their pleasant reflections! Such a beautiful winter image where I think the geese are pointing towards south. TFS this pleasant image my friend.

Hi Bob,

Hi Bob,
Cool shot of these Canada Geese on a mission.
For a minute there I thought there were two or three lying face up in the water!
NIce capture.
PS .... Did you ever see a movie called Psych Out with Jack Nicholson & Susan Strasberg ?Its all about hippies in Haight Ashbury in 68.I just bought it and watched it last night.A real gem! You gotta see!

We have to be thankful that Nature knows no borders Bob,
These Canada Geese have most probably their Canadian passports anyway: they are Canadian! I like the way the geese are shown taking off against the ice while their reflections are seen in the blue open water. Nice one from your archives!

Oh I love the reflections here. Great shot...as usual. :)
And yes, it's nice to be home. :)

Excellent action shot of these Geese taking off, Bob.
I also like the colors and contrasts in this picture.
Thanks for sharing this picture from your archives.

Hello Bob,
I will call it no where less than the skills & reflexes of a fighter pilot (like Asbed's sharp reflexes) to take such wonderful composition and birds in flight & their reflections together. TFS.

Hello Bob, Very natural scene and lovely capture. good lighting and tfs Ganesh

Good show if the reflections of the Canadian Geese Bob. I like how they are taking off so low - I wonder if they ever can't make it up in the air.

I have posted a WS for you showing another take-off flight that I saw today...

Yours is much better than mine, and well done on getting their reflections.

Hello Bob

A lovely composition with excellent reflection.
The colours are natural and well saturated.
If you do another Canada goose themed vid email me,I looked through some folders and gathered a few...I am hopelessly slow and missed the first call for submissions.
Sorry to hear of your border crossing woes.I live in a border community and know all about that.

Ciao Bob, fantastic composition with wonderful canadian geese in splendid take off action, wonderful reflections, bravo, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Bob
This is a great capture of these Geese. Nice composition with excellent reflection. Very cool how you can see the cliff ege under the ice throw the water.Very nice shot Bob and I hope you and Jane are feeling better.
TFS,Best regards

Hi Bob,

The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. It is difficult to capture the birds in flight, well done. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the birds. The intensity of the light brings out the colors. Have a nice day.
