Grey Wolf

A simple portrait of an old grey wolf.I have posted many times about the plight of the wolf in North America. Here in Ontario wolf numbers are better than most areas and they are now afforded some protection from indiscriminate hunting. Each wolf killed must have a report filed with the Ministry of Natural resources.Limits and tag fees have been imposed. Some areas that are sanctuaries for wolves like Algonquin Park have had the no hunting areas around the perimeter increased to help wolves that exit the Park and use surrounding land.So there is hope !
I urge anyone who intends to visit Ontario for a photo trek to make their way to Algonquin Park in the summer for the public wolf howls...each Thursday in August weather and wolves permitting.
I am dedicating this image to my friend Anna ,on the occasion of her first anniversary here on TN in early January.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Wolf,

A beautiful Grey Wolf looking right into your eyes. The look in those eyes is magnificent. Beautiful colors and shadings with the yellow eyes standing out. Fine details of his face. Algonquin Park sounds like a wonderful place to visit. After seeing all of your pictures I would love to see one with my own eyes.

Jane

One of my favorite animals! Excellent notes, but the capture is great. Love the eyes, dof is perfect, and the exposure almost allows the grey wolf to blend into the background.

Beautiful subtle colors - sounds like a place I want to visit! Keep posting.

Hello Wolf,
WOW!!! fantastic shot of this magnificent animal, he's so beautiful. good sharpness, nice natural colors and excellent eye contact.

you capture so much more than an image with these powerful portraits. I can't even explain - but its in the eyes. Amazing shot!

Wolf,

That is a great shot and a great dedication! Congratulations to Anna on her 1st Year on TN! Unfortunately, I missed it as time is not on my side lately... Too many things to do and not enough time to do them in.
Anyways, its been a long day so forgive me for this short comment....

Best Regards,

Martin

Hello Wolf,
An other great wolf's portrait, its intense glance is really expressive
Wolf is an animal that I dream to see in the wild, I went to Yellowstone a few years ago and I saw a few of them but far away with binoculars!
Thanks for sharing your wolf's photos
Albert

Hallo Wolf
Thank you ever so much for this dedication. It was a wonderful surprise and indeed an honour to receive such a striking image with my name on it, as well as the fact that you’re wording states I am your friend. Wow, that is great, and much appreciated. I do not think anything or anybody has ever stared at me or looked me in the eye as long as this "Old Grey Wolf" has, and I like it a lot. Maybe this is a case of one oldie looking at another oldie, which am me. This is truly such a lovely animal. A handsome, charming wolf with a strong and forceful bone and body structure and solidly developed bones, especially around the facial area. It surely looks as if it has a strong pair of jaws. The intense stare, makes one want to look at the beautiful eyes time after time. A great image with wonderful viewpoint, composition, focus and sharpness. I thank you kindly sir, that this is mine. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards
Anna

Hello Wolf,
This is beautiful Grey wolf. It's a good image but you have better images in terms of depth of field. Maybe through the somewhat shallow depth of field the wolf becomes somewhat more huggable:-)

HelloWolf !
I missed several of your pictures, and this one is my favourite among them - I love the pose and the look of this wolf, and it must be so wondeful to meet them in the wild, or to hear them howl ! I'm so jealous of you ! :-) Sharpness, details, colors, composition, POV, everything is excellent and it was nice to read your note, too - great to know that there are places where wolves can be happy. Very well done !
Valérie.

wow, what a beautiful photo and animal. I wish we had wolves here in South Africa, they look both awesome and scary! Lets do a trade, you send me some wolves and I will send you some lions! Great photo, well done
Peter

Very nicely done!

Hi Wolf,

The close-up point of view is allowing us to see the details and colors of the grey wolf which seem to be on alert. The subject is well frame. The good luminosity brings out the colors of the wolf. Have a nice day.
