Hi Ivan, an interesting asymetry of the markings. In some species of herptiles we use this feature for identification of the species diagnosis, if it is so stable in high proportion.

A beautifully presented image of this hoverfly with as you say a definite deformity in the abdomen.
Deformity in the insect world is something rarely seen and it must happen equally if not more frequently than say birds or mammals.

Very interesting observation. Maybe it is some kind of mutation? Hard to say how often it takes place because it is visible mostly on photos I think. I've never seen such deformed insect. Photo is as always very good with high quality and nice subject.

A perfect capture of quite an interesting situation Ivan, a similar deformity in vertebrates is known as scoliosis, but this is the first time I'm seeing such a deformity in an invertebrate. Should be a rare occurrence my friend, TFS it indeed!

The assymetrical pattern is indeed very strange ... something I've never seen before.
It also looks quite similar to another common hoverfly here,Eristalsis tenax.

I really fancy this photo. It is colourful and bright, and the colours creates the feeling of cheerfulness and a sunny atmosphere. I just love the shine on the wings, the fine bodyhairs and the big eyes. In overall this is a warm and inviting to look at image. Oh and before I forget, the tiny white flowers is beautiful. It is flowers that will fit nicely in a little girls hair. Thanks for sharing.

very well inspected and shown about the physical of this fly. The beauty of nature is so well shared with the colours and patterns besides those beautiful flowers accompanying the shot.
i like the positioning of the fly and also the symmetrical patterns of the branches in its blurry depiction. It combination make your shot so lovely.
