Hello,

hope you're all having, or have had a good weekend. The now notorious snow of 2009 continues here in the UK, with a alot more accompianed by gale force winds expected tomorrow.
This shot though, is another from last week, when all the interesting weather started and i had a day off of work. After a rather intense drive through thick snow flurries and on untreated icey roads early in the morning, we made it to here, Bratley View.
This spot has featured before here on TN, but usually it's the pool of water behind and it's beautiful reflection that gets the attention. This time, as we trudged across virgin powder, this tree and it's long shadow from the low early sun cast across a perfect white carpet of snow grabbed my eye. You can see the next wave of snow lurking on the horizon behind the tree.
I have ALOT of snowy scenes from this day, so i'm afraid i'm going to bore you with a few more yet!
In the meantime, hope you like this one, thanks for looking and have a good week ahead :o)

shot in RAW, a tweak of curves, exposure reduced by -3, converted to JPEG, resized and sharpened.

Hello Paul,
you captured this peculiar light and mood in a perfect manner. The point of view is well selected avoiding
over-exposure and showing the large impressive shadow of the tree.
You show a beautifully composed and attractive picture!
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Paul. This is a first class picture. To me the best one you have done so far. It has everything needed for a class one picture. The light, detail ,colour, compostion. The way you have placed the large tree with the sun behind with the cloulds coming out of the top like a fire. and the shadows o the snow. I am not that good with words but i know what i like. so this is of to my favorites.very well done TFS.

Hello Paul!

Your picture reflects the winterly atmosphere at best. The dramatic sky and the magnificent lightplay make it an outstanding one. The composition with the bush on the left and the long fingers of the tree's shadow is superb and leads us well into the picture. I like the picture very much although I find the effect of the polarizing filter too strong.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Paul,

I like it very much.I like you can pull every aspect of elements, from colour, light, form, time, space and depth in one frame. The most dramatic is light penetrate on the ground snow, so pleasant to see with mystery clouds behind the leafless tree.Nice to see the best touch from you.Pitty that this pic. appear during my busy time.TFS.

Selamlar Paul,
Manzara fotoğrafı mükemmel olmuş,
ışık parmakları çok güzel ayrıca kar ve güneş enfes olmuş.
En güzel dileklerimle hoşcakalın.

This is a very effective shot! The composition is very cool, and the long shadows really add some depth to the shot, I also love the blue shadowy tones. Nicely done!

hi Paul

what a wonderful shot. It is stunning. I really like the way that you have hidden the sun behind the tree to allow for the long shadows to come towards the viewer. the tree is really stunning.
