On 22nd February we (Me, Sumon Sinha(Sumon Da) & Satyabrata Mishra (Satya babu))went to the coastal line of Bay of Bengal near Rushikulya River Basin to experience the Olive Ridley's mass nesting phenomena. Satya Babu gave this innovative idea and I was successful to some extent. I am dedicating this post to Satya Babu (kunusatyabbsr).

Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea), also known as the Pacific Ridley, is one of the smallest species of sea turtle.

In the Indian Ocean, a major nesting ground for the species can be found in the Indian state of Orissa. Beaches in Devi, Gahirmatha and Rushikulya are known nesting sites for the L. olivacea Indian Ocean population. In 2007, around 130,000 turtles nested on the beaches of Gahirmatha.

They are common in the Bay of Bengal, seen especially along parts of the Tamil Nadu coastline, including within the main city, Chennai. Olive Ridleys are seen frequently in laying eggs in the shore of Saint Martin's Island in Bangladesh.

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Reptilia
Order: Testudines
Family: Cheloniidae
Genus: Lepidochelys
Species: olivacea

Hello Haraprasan,
Funny, when I brought up your image I was admiring the beautiful scene so much that I didn't even connect that a turtle was even in the picture. I must have assumed that it was a large boulder.
Gorgeous photo with wonderful colors and perfect exposure!! A really neat capture of this magnificent turtle returning to it's environment after laying it's eggs, in order that others will enjoy it's continued existence! TFS.
