This was taken in the spring of 2006, two months before I left the wilderness. I am always surprised to come upon one more of my wild wilderness that I loved so much and still hold fondness for.

The mountains here are covered with quite the variety of firs, pines and tamaracks. The weeds are what is left after teh winters snows melted. In May, it is still quite cold at night and above 5000 feet there is usually some snow left feeding the small creeks which run down into the valley.

I found that I loved this small old fencepost. Normally a bother, it gives a certain perspective to the shot. This pole was more than likely made in the very old fashioned way..nothign fancy in my wilderness......just good smells and the surprises of a new day ahead..

Ciao Bob, beautiful landscape with fantastic colors, good composition, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Bob,
You'd see plenty of old fenceposts like this if you came to New Zealand.
This is still pretty much the norm here.
When I worked on my in-laws farm a few years ago,I made the old traditional five-bar gates by hand, cutting all the wood with a hand saw.
Some of the wood was even recycled off old dead gates, complete with lichen :)
This scene could almost have been taken from our old house back in the North Island.
The landscape there was quite simlar in some ways.
Cheers & TFS

Beautiful landscape Bob,
I can definitely see why you miss this wonderful country. The meadows, pines and mountains must have been a treasure of a place to hike in while you lived in this area of the US.

Hi and Good Morning Bob,
An excellent scene shot of this green valley taken from a nice pov with wonderful details, great DOF and nice composition.
TFS and Have a nice WE!

Hi Bob,

A lovely landscape picture.
I like the different green tones.
Personally I leave the half trunk in the foreground away.
It's now an two sides cut of, but that;s my.
Beautiful natural colours.

hello Bob,
This is a kind of landscape I would like walking through..has something magical and very natural. The fencepost, like you say, gives perspective to the shot and makes the picture more animated (without it the picture would appear more flat).
I really understand that the wilderness meant so much to you.
Best regards

Ah... the beauty of the wilderness. A place to be alone with the Creator. Beautiful Bob... just beautiful!

Namastay Bob,
A beautiful landscape capture. Very well composed with lovely colors. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Bob,
a beautiful landscape with good natural colours in a nice composition.
Best regards
Have a good weekend

Hi Bob,

The point of view is sending our eyes through the valley toward de mountain which is giving depth to the photo. The principle of the third is good, the valley, the mountain and the sky. The quality of the light is enhancing the colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.
