[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Large White is common throughout Europe, North Africa and Asia to the Himalayas often in agricultural areas, meadows and parkland. It is a strong flier and the British population is reinforced in most years by migrations from the continent. Scattered reports of the Large White from the northeastern United States (New York, Rhode Island and Maine) over the past century are of a dubious nature and indicate either accidental transport or intentional release. Such introductions threaten to establish this agricultural pest in North America.

The wings are white, with black tips on the forewings of both males and females, the female also has two black spots on each forewing. The underside is a pale greenish and serves as excellent camouflage when at rest. The black markings are generally darker in the summer brood. Its wingspan is 5 to 6.5 cm.

Siggi my neighbor and first to comment. I am also fascinated with this butterfly as they normally dont sit in one place for a long time. Well shot. Ganesh

Hi Siegfried,
A nice capture of this large white. Superb sharp details and a lovely composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Siegfried, wonderful shot of this large white butterfly.
TFS and regards,

Though this specimen has faced the ravages of time in the form of a clipped wing, it looks good in your well handled capture, Siegfried.
The subject stands out sharp and crisp against a bg that does not distract.
TFS and regards.

Hello Siegfried,
Beautiful photo for this dark circumstances. Excellent sharp details an a very good composition. Great OOF BG.

Hello Siegfired !
This is really a wonderful butterfly, I love his wings, they look so soft. Excellent sharpness and details, beautiful composition leaving a wide space around the butterfly, excellent POV, great pose of the butterfly. Colors are a bit dark for my taste, you could have tried to improve them with some PP work, but this is just my opinion and in fact the picture is wondeful as it is.
Very well done !

Ciao Siggi, lovely Large White with wonderful details and splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Muy bien centrado el foco en el motivo. Mucho realismo en el color y un encuadre excelente.
Saludos Siegfried: Josep Ignasi.

Hi Siggi,

There so many posts on this species but the beautiful image of this butterfly remains. So much details are presented from the sharp focus and shallow depth capture. Very good framing and TFS.

Best regards,
