[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This lovely American Bald Eagle was scanning the ground for something to eat. Actually, he was scanning the river; when he noticed me, he gave me a glare, but then ignored me the rest of the time.

I was able to get closer than I'd hoped, and except for the dreary cloudy sky, this picture could've been better. Still, why look a gift eagle in the mouth? (Literally and figuratively!)

The grace of his beak amazed me, as did the arrangement of his feathers. I love how they blend together, and even better, there was a tree across the river bank that must have had at least 30 eagles on it. What a time for a 500mm lens!

Still, what a wonderful day this was. I hope (minus the sky) you enjoy this wild eagle as much as I do.

This was taken in Iowa, the day before the funeral - but this special touch felt like a bonus, not a negative. It was like Mama saying, see, I can now see everything you can, and look, here's a gift! That's how I felt at the time and still feel.

Lacking a tripod, I scrunched down in the mud, and by the time I was through, I looked as if I'd been tramping through a tramp...then again, I've always told folks I'm a tramp, but a happy one when they ask what I do...

Keep snapping and have a great day!

THis was surely a gift for you Kathy, nothing else but a gift. And what a gift, the American Bald Eagle, who let you get close as a bonus. You were very close indeed and I really like the glance the eagle gives you ;-) that is a great picture, a great note. You're blessed with this because I have never seen one and I think they are scarce in my area even though I've read there are some. Here we have the balbuzard. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us, Kathy,
