Euthalia aconthea meridionalis
Nymphalidae family
wingspan: 55-60 mm

One of the butterflies I was trying to capture for a long time but only now could do that. Not all that good image and specimen but as it was elusive for so many years, I am happy. That too this one visited my house where a damp patch was there and as you can see it was mud puddling.
This specimen was not all that good in color (olive-brown). Mango is its principal host plant and can be found in the orchards or near. Highly territorial in habit, it often returns to the same spot again and again, that's how I got this one.

Hi Nagaraj !

An excellent picture with some very beautiful colors.
Have a good day,

Hi Nagraj,
Nicely composed picture of the baron in its habitat, some how the two patches [one damp patch and another seems some other matter..] are drawing more attention. tfs.

It never seems to amaze me how the butterlys are on the ground all over Europe and S Asia...it may be the way they act there because of climate or some such...there certainly must be a logical reason because here in the US they are either on flora or flying and quite high I might add. so your image gives me pause to think...and do that I shall..

Nagaraj, I sometimes wonder at your frame. You taste is totally different. I admire your taste. I normally would have gone for central frame. The color of the butterfly and the floor would have actually gone unnoticed. Though there are areas slightly OE or OOF but in total brilliant shot. Ganesh
