A break for me from butterfly pictrues to present a scene from ancient woodland near home. The fallen tree has "ears" like a sleeping dog, although it is now covered in moss, while the Bluebells flourish temporarily all around.

These blue flowers are the native species Hyacinthoides non-scripta, which have beguiled me since my childhood in rural Sussex. The flower only briefly but in great abundance in undisturbed old mixed lowland forest.

I hope you enjoy this slightly artistic diversion from insect macro pictures!!

Hy Alan
Funny title and funny POV! This "creature" is sleeping between the beautiful flowers in an old forest! Good inspiration! In fact, the old trunk covered by moss shows the effect of an undisturbed forest as you mentioned in your note! Well done!

Hello Alan,
Nice capture of a 'dog-eared' log (I appreciate your pun). The log, the main subject of this image is sharp and taken from a fine POV with the bluebells around it subsidiary.
The importance of letting these logs lie on the forest floor cannot be over-emphasised.
Thanks and kind regards,
Ivan

Hello Alan,

I appreciate your acuity of vision, you have perfectly shown the log as a dog laying with its ears standing :) Nice capture!

Thanks for sharing.

Hi alan.

this is a very nice study of this mossy log lying amidst the bluebells. I really like the subtle light play on the log and branch and the oof bluebells in the BG help to add depth to the shot.
