[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The European Legless Lizard is the only species from the Anguidae family in israel. the means of the name "Anguidae" is "snake like". The European Legless Lizard is the the greatest species in this family.

the length grow up to 120 cm. the tail take more then half of the this length.
the means of his latin name "Ophisaurus apodus" is:
"ophis"=snake, "saurus"=lizard, "podus"=leg, "a"=less.
because of his imagination to snakes many people think he is a snake and kill him.
the European Legless Lizard is a fast lizard the live on the ground of woodlands and bushs.
he eat small lizards, small mammals and insects. but his most mainly food is ground snails.

I catch this boy after a chase of 15 m! he was really fast and I were not like try his tooths.
before of that situation I saw three of them make love in the bushs, and when I get get close them they disperse for all the directions.
I run after one of them and this is what I catch: a big male! after some minutes in my hands he get into a stress and don't move anyplace when I pu him on the ground.
