This is a black ant, but of course you can already see that. What kind of ant? Black! Only one in this picture but they are strewn about the ground in a haphazard way. They seem to have no clue where they are going. Not any lines for food...just wandering in circles and up stems and around flora (*the white flora in back). I tracked this one with the stealth of a world war detective and my camera. Neighbors came to watch as I clicked away...Then....my back started to hurt. I quit. went home.

Looks pretty neat climbing up this purple stem. The only thing I know about the image is the purple stem. it is a small 2 foot Red Maple sapling.....with a BLACK ANT!

I took note that you purchased a Leica!!! Good for you, Bob, you will finally see what you take in your pictures! And this picture is an ode to Leica, the colours are fantastic, the composition is great with a superb balance in all the lines and components. I love the white flowers in the back, the sharpnes on the ant and stem. The background is pastel coloured and so beautiful, it adds to the whole. Thank you!

Great capture with a simple title Bob.
I like the natural framing of this ant macro with umbelliferous flower BG and the black ant itself is sharp and clear in a perfect composition.
Nice one!

Hy Bob
Funny your notes, probably is searching for some aphids. Nice that you look in the microworld with this picture. Well done!

Hello Bob,
We have so many different Ants here but this looks very much like the species that are frantically busy on our Peonies just now!
This is a fine sharp profile of this one against a nice background.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Bob.
Long time I dream to take ant photos but I even could not imagine that it is possible to create such art masterpiece with this tiny hero. Simply amazing subject and composition as well as direct POV. Stems< smooth flowers and crisp sharp ant on a twig are looked fantastically. Soft lighting and delicate colours complete this charming work. Bravo.

Hello Bob,
a fantastic composition, you have captured this black ant with very good sharpness and indeed surprising manner, very beautiful natural colours
Bzest regards

Hi Bob. Love the notes. i was also watching some ants on sunday but they seemed to know just where they were going and kept doing the same for ages. They may be just an ant but one of the clever type of insect. You have got use to the new camera already. I like the detail of the Ant on the flower and the OOF BG. well done TFs.

Hello neighbor Bob,
Very nice macro, with good DOF and excellent detail. Nicely composed with vivid yet natural colors.
I could almost swear that my robin perked up the minute you posted this fine image, maybe he was just hungry and your ant looked appetizing! TFS.

Hello Bob,
A great shot of this male Black Ant, I think it is a male as it has whiskers showing if you were to look closely. LOL, be sure to look...
A much different shot from anyone, and a great one at that...

Hi Robert. How long without commenting on a picture of you, sorry. This image of the ant climbing on the plant is very well defined. Excellent macro.

Best regards my friend.

Good tracking Bob.
I wrote you a poem.

The Black Horde in disarray,
Scouts in confusion, the ranks in chaos,
The leader climbs aloft,
An old man clicks,
One becomes immortal.

An excellent macro, Bob!Very well seen and captured!

Namastay Bob,
A nice capture of the ant with a diagonal composition. Good details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Bob,

Lovely shot of this little black ant. The colors are lovely and pleasant with a wonderful composition and POV. The white flowers look so fresh and fragile. :-) nice notes too Bob.

Cute shot. And today evening after returning home from Deaf & Dumb Institute (where I teach photography to some hearing impaired children) I found a ant smartly utilized my car to reach my home. May be he was frustrated and decided for a change like me.....:-)

Hello Bob,
You are very productive these last days.. Ants are among my favourites to observe, I can spend quite a long time to watch them move around and work hard. I like the composition and the point of view you have chosen for your picture. And the colours too are special. An original shot.
Thanks and kind regards to your wife too

Hi Bob,

The stems are framing well the black ant. A difficult subject to catch account of his size. The macro view is showing the details and colors of the insect. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
