Amazing emotions... This bird is a must watch during breeding season. The Grey Crowned Crane has a breeding display involving dancing, bowing, and jumping. It has a booming call which involves inflation of the red gular sac. It also makes a honking sound quite different from the trumpeting of other crane species.

When this shot was taken, the sun was shining really bright and directly on the subject. I used centred metering and not average metering and since the back ground was at a distance, the pic as you see has almost a fill flash effect - a black background.

The Grey Crowned Crane (Balearica regulorum) is a bird in the crane family Gruidae. Its found in dry savannah in Africa south of the Sahara, although it nests in somewhat wetter habitats.

Hello Shabeer.

Interresting nice photography of that bird.

Looking at your picture, with your permission :

The sharpness and the depth of field are adapted to the subject. And we can see many details. Maybe would it have be better to manage in such a way that the background of the picture would have be a little bit more neutral and a little less "present". For instance, a green background would have be better, in my feeling.

The colours, colour intensity, colour depth are realistic. The contrast is good.

Except for the background, this is an interesting photography. Just a few words on the subject and on the shot would have be welcome.

Hope to see you another time on treknature for other pictures.

All the best.
