RHOPALAPION LONGIROSTRE ON ALCEA ROSEA

In our Botanical Garden there is a corner for garden-flowers where at the moment blossom the quite high Alcea rosea (Hollyhock). I was looking at the buds of these flowers when suddenly I realized that there were hundreds of very tiny creatures creeping around on these flowers. Without my lens I just saw some grey spots moving around. Through the lens I had the great pleasure to see this funny very tiny weevil (2,4-3,4mm), mostly moving in a tandem-formation.
At home it took me a long time to find out abouth them.
Finally I got the key with the species Rhopalapion longirostre, species which I would like to present in a next picture.

Hi Anne,

Nice sharp capture of the insect. Very good capture with nice details.

TFS,
Kedar

Very nice picture. Those ARE difficult, aren't they ? And managing an Id too. Waw!
Philippe

Ciao Anne, my today neighbour, lovely little maiting couple, splendid macro with fantastic details. beautiful blurry BG and splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi,
It looks for the bud than the weevils, waiting for your next image to see bit close of these mating weevils. This image is fine but needs bit of extra PP work which I did mainly to get more texture on the bud, hope you don't mind. tfs.

Bonjour Anne,

Hello Anne,
Beautiful photo in excellent sharp details. The colours are a bit pale, so I like the WS of Nagraj evenso.
Good composition, POV and OOF BG.

Peter

Bonjour Anne,
A fine capture of a pairing pair of weevils on their natural habitat, an Alcea rosea flower bud. The dark weevils are perfectly exposed and taken with fine sharpness, though the bud is a little OE.
Nevertheless a nice capture! Ilook forward to the close-up of the weevils1
Merci et bonne soirée,
Amicalement,
Ivan

espléndida macro,
buen pov y fino encuadre.
hermoso trabajo,
saludos

Sort of like a bar with a pole.....here in the US now quite famous...they have picked a very highly visible place...through instinct of course, not rationale with which they are sans..without...Very clear..I wonder at the mixed message teh perch sends..I cannot figure out if it is soft or sharp....only to feel would be to know for me.

Hi Anne. At first i only saw the one wevil but now i see the two together., You have taken this with sharp focusing and fine detail. We can even see the hairs on the rose bud. I like the plain BG and pastle colours. well done TFS.
Nick..

ciao Anne!
challenging macro with these small insects
to "have fun" on the bud of the Alcea rosea
excellent details and definition

ciao sERGIO

Hello Anne

Merci Michel

Hello Anne,
A captive audience you were to these two weavels, and I must say you have captured the scene with perfection. Ugly critters with their long snouts, but the beautiful hollyhock bud far outshadows the absence of gift by nature to the Weavel's appearance.
Excellent post and,
Have A Great Weekend...
Steve

Hy Anne
I know this little bugs, are indeed, everywhere during the summer. And you captured very well, together with the flowed bud. An excellent macro!

Hi Anne,
A nice capture of these tiny weevils mating. Very well composed with good details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Bonjour Anne,

Philippe
