A shot from my garden, again...

The Oriental Magpie Robin Copsychus saularis is a small passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family Turdidae, but now considered an Old World flycatcher. They are distinctive black and white birds with a long tail that is held upright as they forage on the ground or perch conspicuously. Distributed in many parts of tropical South and Southeast Asia, they are common birds in urban gardens as well as forests. They are particularly well known for their songs and were once popular as cagebirds.

I do apologise for the harsh light.

Great capture Goldy,
I can definitely see why this is called a Magpie Robin, if it wasn't for the difference in coloring, it would look exactly like our American Robins. The shape of the bird is identical to ours, even the posture it displays while perched on the log.
Well done!! Very informative notes!
Ron

Hi Goldy,

I guess your garden is the place to be during the summer - mine isn't. I would love to see a Magpie Robin one day. He does resemble the American Robin but with the wonderful black and white colors. I love the pose and even in this light his eye shows off very well. I hope you are still dedicating your garden shots to Caroline.

La idea por la posición del ave es muy interesante, aunque el enfoque te quedo bastante justo: una lástima.
Saludos Goldy: Josep Ignasi.

Not harsh light, just the flash but if it had not gone off you would not have had that small glimmer in the eye of the bird and that is what makes this image!
Bob

Bonjour goldy
excellente capture de ce Shama dayal qui ressemble vraiment a une pie
il a une trčs jolie pose, superbe composition et lumičre
Passe une bonne nuit

Hi Goldy,

I like the way you framed the bird. The point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the Oriental Magpie Robin. The blurred background is putting in evidence the foreground. The luminosity is enhancing the colors. have a nice day.

Pierre
