[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dear Friends,
Today it was a special day - we met with Greg (red45) in his favourite Lodz Botanical Garden. He showed me his photographic battleground and presented many new places in the area, which is quite close to the place where I live but which I have never really visited. We spent there a few hours and then went downtown to meet Krzysztof (cataclysta) and have few beers together. So there was another meeting of TNers from Lodz. To conmemorate that I dedicate this photo made today to a strong group of active TNers from our city: Greg, Krzysztof and finally to Radek (cicindela) that was supposed to meet with us today evening but couldn't make it.

Cicindela hybrida - tiger beetle
Family: Cicindelidae
Order: Coleoptera

This day-active predator hunts wirtually for any kind of prey that may crush and cut into pieces with his huge and sharp mandibles. This particular species is the commonest one in Poland, inhabiting sandy roads and dunes. There are many interesting facts about tiger beetles, but in fact almost all you can find in notes made by Radek under his photos... I will say only that this is a first picture of tiger beetle I made :-)

Fantastyczne zdjecie! Jest ostre jak brzytwa. Pieknie rysuja sie szczegoly owada. Swietne kolory. Ciekawe co on tam wypatrzyl na piasku.

Wniosek: warto zakladac pierscienie, co rzadko czynie.

Gratulacje wielkie i pozdrowienia - Roma

Marvellous picture, Michal.
The bug looks like a jewel with such fine shades of colours on its body.
Absolutely stunning pictures in terms of sharpness and details too.

Hello Michal,
A superb macro of C. hybrida, especially as this is your first of a tiger beetle!
Technically this is superb and the composition and POV just right.
A fine tribute to you guys in Lodz!
Thanks and cheers!

Hi Michal

Lucky you to have four great photgraphers in one place.
Great shot of this tiger beetle, excellent sharpness, composition and POV

Hello Michal,
Very interesting beetle, that I never meet. The colours and sharpness are very well taken. Congratulations for thos shot and for the interesting meeting of good photographers! Cheers,

Czesc Michal,

Wonderful close-up macro, absolutely great shot. I like the minimalistic composition, background isn't busy and fits perfectly to the insect color-wise. Congrats for this superb shot.

As I wrote to Grzeg, meetings like this is very important. People are speaking about science, photography, maybe politics, but after the 2nd bottle of beer only about girls... :) You're lucky to have such friends in Lódz.

Have a nice weekend, best regards from Hungary, László (Wladyslaw)
