[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a very common species in Portugal.
It's very resistant to the weather conditions and we can see it flying in winter on sunny days.
It doesn't have a common name in Portuguese, but in English is known as meadow brown.
It's not a protected specie, since it's doesn't need special conditions to live.
The larva is green with lots of small needles.
The food plants are all kind of gramineae.
It likes to land on the soil to rest and usually did it on a dark place.
I never saw it with his wings wide open that's why it's too difficult to catch it like that and I have lots of photos of this species.
It belongs to the Satyridae Maniolinae family.

Superb shot of this common butterfly Paulo. Razorsharp, great colours and lots of details. Personally I would prefer a little more space infront of the butterfly but apart from that it is very nice picture.

Hi Paulo, very nice shot. The details are excellent and a very nice composition. Nice work.

Beautiful macro, Paulo.
Maybe it's little too centred. The sharpeness and colours are great. And I like the low angel.
Very good work.

Great shot of this meadow brown.
The specie is also common to my places but it's difficult to approach.
I hope this summer will be more lucky
