Macros taken with a compact camera:

I want to tell you some more about my experience with a compact camera (Cybershot). This 13 mm female spider (Aranea; Araneidae; Aculepeira ceropegia (=Araneus ceropegius; Eichenblatt- Radspinne) is doing nothing and wind is absent, therefore a macro shot was possible. Automatic focussing is the problem otherwise.

ID: it's not a spider you see often, it prefers mountainous regions (I took the shot at 950 m a.s.l., see Map:View). The dorsal pattern tells the species apart from A. carbonaria which moreover has a high alpine distribution and from C. armaria (mediterranean distribution). I used H. Bellmann, 1997. Kosmos Atlas Spinnentiere Europas.

Technical specs: I used a magnifying lens and an UV filter. 1/1'600 sec and f/4, ISO 100 without flash. The good lens and the antishake mechanism were important. I had to process the picture in PS (smudges, removal of a dry stick by stamping, careful sharpening at 20% and 1 pixel) .

Hi Dietrich . Your close up of the colourful spider has been taken with sharp focusing and fine detail. with natural lookng colours. I like the pose it looksas if its having a daytime sleep in its web. We can see from your POV the markings on its body. well done TFs.

Hello Dietrich,
What a nice composition of this arachnid feeling cozy in its cradle :-) Very appealing and emotional. Perfect colours and sharpness. Pretty and interesting species too.
Best greetings & TFS!

Lieber Dieter,

hello Dietrich!
a good place for a nap.....
beautiful POV and fine details

ciao sERGIO

Lieber Dieter,
Peter
