I see, Europeans are for those little peckers, after all, the large one do scare many.
This one looks as if it's been in extreem cold water, here, we call this, "major shrinkage" LOL
Excellent shot of the little wrinkled one. Well done on the composition.

Hahaha! You guys are hilarious, peckers! :) I am really disappointed at the size of your pecker Alan and I don't think it will grow at your age. ;) Seriously, good shot! I like the way the pecker is popping out from the tree and the winking eye is just too good to be true. Good details and colors but there's is some noisy here and there. Well composed. Well done & TFS!
Regards,
Pieter

I wouldn't dare say "lovely pecker" Alan. ;)
It's a nice moment and POV. The colors seem a bit unsaturated but it could be natural. Very well done.

Very lovely capture Alan. Pose is just adorable. Even to some soft focussing, it's a great picture to look at.
Well done.
Hi Alan, firstly very well done for capturing this moment, you deserve praise for that. To be perfectly honest I have never seen a woodpecker chick so I don't know what colour they are but, saying that the colours look a little flat (please correct me if I am incorrect in this assumption). There is also some noise in the BG but not bad for ISO 800, and I find the Sigma 50-500 doesn't work as well in low light situations, I don't know if you find that.
Anyway, it's a good composition and very well done for capturing.
