A common but bright hoverfly to give some color to this rainy and dark 1st November.
Added to my theme of Hoverflies of Belgium.

Eristalis arbustorum L.
Family: Syrphidae

The Eristalis arbustorum is a common hoverfly, mimic of bee and wasps. The colour pattern is variable and the sexual dimorphism is also important. It has a prominent 'hourglass' black shape on the orange markings. All tarsi are dark.
Larvae live in organic rich water.
This species is found throughout the north temperate part of the world, and probably was introduced into North America accidentally.

Hi Catherine. We have had a very wet and dull day as well. So yes this bright picture put a smile on my face. You were able to take a fine top view of this Hoverfly with fine detail and sharp focusing. All with bright colours. well taken TFS.

I like the radial lines of the petals of the flower. I think the cut and composition are perfect. The level of detail of the insect as the centerpiece, is excellent. A job with very good structure and technical quality. Congratulations.

Lovely macro capture of the common hoverfly with wonderful details! I like the great sharpness and nice POV with great natural colors of the fly and the flower on which it is perching. A great contrast can be seen between the colors of the hoverfly and the bright colored flower.
