Sicus ferrugineus (Linnaeus, 1761)
Family: Conopidae

Sicus ferrugineus is a strange-looking species of fly. These flies lay their eggs on bumble bees. Their larvae are endoparasites of bumble bees of the genus Bombus. It is common throughout much of Europe.

Hi Catherine. Yes this is a little strange looking. But i must say you have taken a first class close up of this colourful fly. Your use of the light has given fine detail and bright colours. well taken TFS.
