BIRCH TREE LEAVES

BIRCH TREE (Betula)

Birke
Bouleau

Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Fagales
Size: up to 30m

The English name birch comes from the Old Germanic "birka" ( we still use this name in our region which uses a german dialect).
Birches are very often pioneer-plants on open spaces.
They also are useful for a lot of birds and animals which eat its buds and seeds, like the Common Redpoll or the Black Grouse.

Autumn creates so many fine tints that we just can admire the great creativity of nature..these two leaves are in a different stage of loosing their chlorophyll and hence have a different color.

Ciao Anne, my today neighbuor, splendid light on autumnal leaves, lovely and simple composition, great contrast against dark BG, brava, ciao Silvio

Hi Anna,
so simpel - so schön.

Hello Anne,
A wonderful capture showing these old Birch leaves beautifully lit against a dark background. Lovely colours and fine details too showing that some insect or other have made use of them!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Bonjour Anne,
A fine presentation on two autumn birch leaves on a twig taken almost against the light to show their stages of autumnal decomposition to fine effect. The resulting dark BG is also very effective.
It is interesting to speculate if these leaves have been affected by leaf-mining insects or whether is was the result of a normal process of decomposition.
Unusual, artistic and skillfully photographed.
Merci et bonne semaine,
Amicalement,
Ivan

Hallo Anne!

As liebs Grüessli

Hi Anne. Most stange the two leaves on the same twig yet one more advaced in colour than the other.Somthing has been eating the leaves in the summer. I like the the way you have taken them with the light shining though them. So we can see the detail. Well taken TFs.
Nick..

Hallo Anne,

Hi Anne,

A superb macro capture of the leaves with autumn effect!
Great details are visible for each leaf. I like the sharpness and POV here with great natural colors. Especially the light passing through the leaves, making their textures very well defined. A great contrast can be seen between the leaves and blurry BG.

best regards,
Paras

Hi Anna,
a beautiful and artistic composition of the betula leaves, very good POV
TFS and warm regards.

Your eyes are still sharp. I can see what you went for and you got it better than a couple I have posted from a while back. You always add that feminine touch which works so well for you!

Ciao Anne,

Jacqueline

Ciao Anne. Light, transparencies and colours like in a paint. Amazing black BG.
