Today a photo of butterfly again [sorry Greg ;-)]

I had some problems with the ID of this fellow.
It no doubt belongs to the Zygaenidae family, but there are two groups of species it can belong to which are Adscita and Jordanita.
As I found out the most common in my country is Adscita statices (or Procris statices) so I think this is the most probable ID.
If any of you could say if it is correct please do.

In Poland Adscita statices is called Lsniak Szmaragdek what can be translated as Shimmering Emerald. This name perfectly describes the beautiful colour of the wings.
In English speaking countries it is called The Forester, but I don't really know why.

I found very few information about these species:
- the adults feed on nectar
- the caterpillars feed on sorrel at night and days spent hidden among plants.

I have many photos of this butterflies feeding on flowers (their favourite is probably the plant that all Burnets in my region love - Coulter)

However I have impression that the emerald and violet-pink colours doesn't look good together, so I decided to post this shot. You can see here a butterfly hanging on the grass flowers. I think the colours of BG help to show this beauty well.

Super emerald colours Monika. Well composed with the b'fly upside down and on the angle. Excellent texture and clarity, and the BG does show this beauty well. Yes, I agree with you, but I'd still like to see it against the violet-pink flowers too. Both nature's colours. And it's not a spider:(

Beautiful blue colour on the wings.
Great photo with a good DOF.

Hi Monika!
Funny thing, I was going to post same moth today, but I was too lazy to identify it and posted well known Skipper today. This is rather not very shy insect and very good object to photograph. I like its shinning body and anntenas. Delicate grass looks also great. As always very good post!

What a superb Zygeana that you have well captured ! Composition, colors, details and sharpness are very good ! Thanks for sharing Monika.

As heavenly blue as the Navajo turcoise. I am not sure this is a butterfly, looks rather a moth to me but again Im no specialist in this area...
