Wow, Emma, this is a fantastic and mystical moment. God is opening the clouds and looks down - amazing.
We can see the shafts of sunlight so clear, it's an amazing shot, thank you so much, I like it

Hi Emma,
Great shot, very stirring. The exposure is just right to give that powerful feeling. It's like a battle between light and dark. It sounds as if dark won that day as it rained.

Hi Emma. Nice to se you back posting on TN. You have taken such a dramatic seascape at the start of the day. As you say in your notes i like the sun rays shinning from behind the clouds. But i hint of blue sky up in the top left corner. Well taken TFs.

Hi Emma,
I do not usually pick in photos of landscapes; insects are my passion. But obviously, this photo is special!
My heartfelt congratulations, the photo is deep, filled with a sober and proper light. The balance is excellent in all technical aspects and composition. Good & beatiful work!

Hi Emma!
This is a very good and emotional moment: you are back! And the fact that you are talking about holidays seems to indicate that you are doing well.
Your picture simply is superb. It is mystic and mysterious, reflecting one of these atmospheres where I feel a little bit sad, very humble and small, but so well at the same time: isn't this a good definition of melancholy? I have tried to explain this in my last posting. Your image enlarges the melancholic feeling by adding the beauty.
Kind regards, and welcome back!
Markus

Hello Emma,
Very pleased that you are posting again! And with a quality-picture like always.
Most beautiful composition to render this particular atmosphere. And the sharpness is just right. I like a lot the fine palette of grey (it's one of my favourite color)and the subtle blue in the left corner.
I hope we will see more from you again:-)
Kind regards
Anne

Hi Emma,
It's great to see you back. This photo really has your signature with the feel of serenity and just the focus on the beams of light. The clean and simple look of this composition is a pleasure to look at. That bit of blue sky adds a lot to the photo. Not only a brief look to better weather, but also the fact that this is a real color photo.
TFS,
Niek
Hi Emma,
it really is great to see you back, your presence here has been sorely missed. I hope you are well and doing ok. It's good to see you've been back to your beloved Scotland and been inspired. If anywhere was going to do it, that'd be the place!
Anyway, your photograph. This speaks volumes about the landscape and the elemental processes in this part of the world. The slight underexposure only emphasises the contrast and impact of the sun breaking through the clouds, and the clarity is wonderful too, helping the viewer become absorbed into the scene. I remember moments like this when i was on Skye (i stayed at Sligachan).
If you haven't already, you should read Robert MacFarlans 'The Wild Places'...
tfs and hope to see you again soon here :o)

Hi Emma and my warmest welcome back!!!
I hope all your health issues are behind you now and soon the computer ones will be as well :)
Sorry for getting to this so late...i was out with a bad flu, too, for the last few weeks. But i'm happy to be ok now and finally get to congratulating you :)
It's very nice to see something new from you and i hope to see more in the future, too. I understand perfectly why you deliberately underexposed this scene - otherwise only with an HDR you could have retained those amazing rays...and i don't think you're a HDR kind of photographer either :)
I like this scene a lot. It's full of atmosphere and it's composed very very well. I like the silhouettes of the hills in the FG as well as that patch of blue sky in top left corner...that's such a great bonus in my eyes, but i don't know why really :) I just feel it is.
Anyway, lovely work!
Bravo and TFS

Hi Emma
Your EF 24-105 is doing pretty well catching up with your great senses. But somehow I guess you probably needed a wider angel on a shot like this.
Thanks for sharing.
Fardad
