Hello friends,
A fresh Blue Moon photo from today
You may say what is a Blue Moon? When a month has two full moons, the second one is called a "blue moon".
Here our Blue Moon is also the last full moon of 2009

*A lunar month takes 29.53 days. This is the amount of time it takes for the Moon to complete a cycle through all the phases, from new moon to full moon and then back to new moon again. This is very close to the length of a month in the Western calendar, which usually have 30 or 31 days. Every month usually has one of each of the phases. So a typical month will have a new moon, first quarter, full moon and last quarter moon. But every now and then, a month will have two of the same phases. When a month has two full moons, the second one is called a "blue moon".

Blue moons are rare, and that's where the phrase comes from, "once in a blue moon". How rare? They always happen once every 2-3 years (2.72 years, to be exact). It's this second moon in the month that's considered the blue moon.

Does the blue moon actually turn blue? No. A blue moon is exactly the same color as a regular full moon – yellow.

The Moon can turn blue when there's a certain amount of dust or pollution in the air. The extra dust scatters blue light, making the Moon appear more blue. For example, the Moon appeared blue across the entire Earth for about 2 years after the eruption of Krakatoa in 1883.

Hope you'll be fine. Nice to meet you as I think we are meeting for the first time. The full moon shot is undoubtedly very exceptional but exceptionally still was the note which I was compelled to save in Microsoft Word, it was so good. Hello Selen,
I've read it in the newspapers. Special this 'blue moon'. Good idea to use a photo of this event for this special occasion. We got only thick clouds here, so we can't enjoy it. But thanks to you I can see it's true.

Last night on the news they also mentioned the blue moon, and here I see your photograph of the beautiful moon. It is really pretty. I once tried to capture the moon and the stars but all I could see on the screen was a mixture of non-focused haziness and something I thought was the moon. Your image is clear and the moon is seen beautifully. The composition is great and the contrast between black and white a perfect match. Thanks also for the very interesting note that accompanied this image. The explanation of the "blue moon" is much appreciated. Thanks for sharing. I've seen many moon shots so far, have taken some too, but here is one that looks alright plus has some very very interesting info along too! I didn't expect anything new from a moon post but here's the surprise :)
