Hello Trung,
this is a nice picture of a day-flying moth belonging to the family Zygaenidae. Its species
name is Erasmia pulchera. There are many pictures of European Zygaenidae on the TN site but not
of this subgroup, i.e. subfamily Chalcosiinae.
Best wishes, Peter
Hello Trung,
Nice capture, very sharp, with amazing colors. TFS this new species on TN! Best regards,
Catherine
Hallo Trung
Thanks for the feedback on the topic I raised about supplying notes with your images. I see your point but personally I feel it is not totally practical if one have to first go and search or look for a certain insect's description or information as you suggested on another website. One of Trek Natures aims, besides photography are to educate and how can one do it better by looking at an image and on the same page read more about the specific subject? I personally feel it will give you as photographer and your work much more exposure than if one first have to do cross reference between different sites where your work is featured. Please don't see my reasoning as a personal attack, as I really find your images very intriguing as I have mentioned before and would love to learn more about these unique creatures. Thanks to Peter Roos we know that the beautiful, brightly coloured moth in your posting is a Erasmia pulchera, and that it is indeed a striking insect. The metallic antennas is very eye-catching, and the patterns and markings on the wings very pretty. You have captured this lovely moth with great skill and it turned out to be a great macro. Thanks for sharing.
