Quiz : the winners are : Loot and Ron !!!
and the answer is : to avoid to be seen by crocodiles.
Wild dogs are very clever, they move around, never staying in one place and they are not easy to photograph.
This guy, the same on today’s picture , drunk for only +/-10 seconds and left the place immediately. The second one did the same and disappeared .
Totally we have seen them for les than five minutes ! but that was very exciting for all of us, including our guide who did not see wild dogs in Timbavati for more than one year !

Bonjour Albert,

Happy New Year, Albert!
I love these wild dogs with their painted coats.
This is a beautiful specimen, with the sharp details well seen against the clean BG.
A great pose of this female offering a clear view of the face and those impressive canines.
TFS. : )

Hi Albert

Happy to be co-winner of your quiz (chuckle). From the reddish tones to its face and
forelegs it is obvious that this dog just finished eating at a kill. I actually noticed this
on your previous posting as well, but neglect to mention it. That is probably why you
saw them at the waterhole. After feeding they normally are thirsty and need the water.
One see a similar behaviour with lions and probably all carnivores. This is a really nice
capture of a single dog. Well placed within the composition. I do however notice that
it must have been a cloudy day so the image needed a bit of post processing to bring
back some lost light. I have prepared a quick workshop to experiment with the light.

Well done and TFS.

Hello Albert,
Of course! When I read Loot's answer I knew that was right!
This is a fine capture of a young female African Wild Dog, the features showing well from this lateral POV against the natural BG, but Loot's WS made it even better!
Thanks ans have a good week,

nice capture, TFS Ori

Hallo Albert
A very striking mammal you have captured and in such a proud pose, showing its posture to the best. The variation of spots, marks and colours of this animal's fur is unbelievably beautiful and very striking, but what impresses me the most is the furry tail with its white tip. We missed out on the wild dogs and cheetahs and I was very disappointed. Lucky you for spotting this remarkable animal. A beautiful image of this animal not so often featured on the gallery. I also like how Loot's workshop brought out the lively colours to their best. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

This is a rare but very sharp and clear picture of a Wild Dog, Albert.
The animal looks quite ferocious and capable of taking care of itself.
Thanks and regards.

Hello again Albert,
A wonderful view of this beautiful and astute animal. I like its pose very much and the markings on its coat are fantastic. Lovely colours too and well composed. Considering how shy they seem you did really well! Congratulations to Loot and Ron!
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

My congratulations to Loot and Ron too!

Hello Albert. Stunning shot of an African wild dog with nice composition and details.
TFS and regards,

Hi Albert,
these are not my favourite animals - but this one is realy pretty. I like the design/marking of the coat.
Thanks, a wonderful post

Hi Albert

A fine shot of this beautiful wild dog. I have seen them in the zoo here and they fascinated me. Your note is great, fancy being hunted by a crocodile. I can see their fur pattern would provide ideal camoflage in the tall savanah grass. Excellent composition and sharpness.

Hi Albert.
I am not a winner but I have guessed too. Superb shot of a charming dog. You have reflected its shapes, colouration and other features with perfect details and exactness. I also like very natural surroundings. Well done.
