Xanthoria parietina,is a lichen, and it can be found near the shore on rocks or walls, and also on inland rocks, walls, or tree bark.
The vegetative body of the lichen, the thallus, is foliose, and typically less than 8 centimetres wide. The lobes of the thallus are 1–4 mm in diameter, and flattened down. The upper surface is some shade of yellow, orange, or greenish yellow, while the lower surface is white, with a cortex, and with sparse pale rhizines or hapters.
The outer "skin" of the lichen, the cortex, is composed of closely packed fungal hyphae and serves to protect the thallus from water loss due to evaporation as well as harmful effects of high levels of irradiation. In Xanthoria parietina, the thickness of the thalli is known to vary depending on the habitat is which it grows. Thalli are much thinner in shady locations than in those exposed to full sunshine; this has the effect of protecting the algae that cannot tolerate high light intensities. The lichen pigment parietin gives this species a deep yellow or orange-red color.

Hello Alin,
This is a fine macro of what could be X. parietina, an attractive orange lichen species. The Clarity, colours and lighting are fine in this pleasing composition.

Hello Alin
very nice meeting, nice surprise for me:) I opened your post and I will write, I saw your message. many thanks my friend.
This is great close-up of colorful lichens. sharp details, POV/DOF and exposure very nice. composition and colors also superb. TFS. have a nice week.

Hello Alin,

I really like this shot. It has rich color, lots of interesting detail and is a very interesting species. Nice and sharp too!

Buna Alin,
Gata!
Numai bine!

Buna Alin,
Wonderful macro of this nice lichen species with great warm color tones and nice sharpness. Composition's also good - but maybe a little less closer version (not much... only one centimeter or so) with more background would be even more effective. Not a serious mistake at all, but something to be alert of, by my opinion.
Have a nice Sunday, best regards, László

Hi Alin,
This Image can be used as a Painting if printed on Canvas. Very nice indeed.Good choice of aperture. However I think, some cropping can help improving the composition.
George Veltchev

Thank you for that picture of Xanthoria parietina.

Nice composition and good point of view, showing us the abundance of the lichen on his support. The sharpness should probably have be better. The colours are very realistic.

Anyway this is an interesting photo with an instructive comment.

Thank you for the sharing. See you soon on treknature for other pictures.

All the best.
