Graphosoma semipunctatum(Fabricius, 1775)
Family: Pentatomidae

The Half-spotted Stink Bug is very closely related to the Italian Stink Bug (Graphosoma italicum), the main difference being that the stripes on the pronotum are broken into dots and the legs are orange instead of black. Of course, another obvious difference is that the Half-spotted Stink Bug is orange, whereas the Italian Stink Bug is reddish.
It is a very widespread species in southern Europe.

Have a look on its Italian cousin and you will understand why Italian do it beter:), thanks to Bayram GÖÇMEN...

Photo taken on Ikaria island, at dawn (so not great DOF)

Hi MF Catherine:)

Tonight I think we created a funny and very educative environment with our bugs:) But I have to admit that your bug can do it well too:). However I also love the Greek Fantasy” so much:).. Haha… I think we wil be censored by TN with these images:)
Thanks a lot my dear friend!
Have a great night!
Cheers,

Bayram

Hi Catherine,
I see:"Flash Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode"...this puzzles me; where is the bright spot on the the back of the little stink "bomb" from?
Anyways, that extra light gave you beautiful vivid colors in your photo.
I wonder how did you manage to get such a nice warm background..
Thanks a lot,
Nelu

Hi Catherine!

I was attracted by the colours of the thumbnail and and I'm glad I have opened the picture. Imagine I would have missed the Italian party!

:-)

Congratulations for this superb picture. Beside the beautiful contrast in the colours I like the richness of the details very much. I also believe that the lack of a greater depth of view is not adisturbing element, but highlights the bug's beauty.

Kind regards

Markus

This one is lovely, Catherine.

We have them, too, and you helped me identify my post in October (www.treknature.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=220444). Ours look more orange-brown than reddish.

Cheers!

Ishi
