Hi All,

Just returned from a great 2 week trip to the kruger national park in South Africa, had the opportunity to see and Photograph lots of wildlife, made abt 7000 captures so it will take some time to sort things out,but I will try to post some of them in the near future, lets start with some birds,I was photographing this lilac breasted roller sitting on a termite hill, while the red billed hornbill landed behind it,so I made some captures of both typical krugerbirds in one capture, the light was a bit tricky but I was happy with the results after some postprocessing in Photoshop.

Hi Paul,
Groet,
Peter

Hi Paul,
You could have easily called this Beauty and the Beast. Your excellent camera work resulted in a great image under very poor lighting. The colours are muted a touch, but your details and composition are superb, Great work Paul, thank you for sharing.

Hej Paul,
What a start to your series from Kruger!! A fantastic and well-timed capture showing these two fabulous birds together. They're posing very nicely for you and focus is spot-on on both. Great details and lovely natural colours too. I look forward to more!
TFS and cheers, Ulla

Hallo Paul
I was looking at the gallery every day to see when you will post your 1st photo from your holiday in the Kruger and here it is. Boy what beauties you have here! and more so because I have recently started a series of all the birds we where able to photograph while we where there. In spite of the very light background ( I presume it was a very hot day) the colours of the Lilac-breasted roller and the Red-billed hornbill are seen beautifully. I like the way the two of them are looking in different directions, and the way one can see the different markings, colourings and shapes of the feathers of the two birds in the image. The termite hill adds lot of character to this image. I am sure you also saw termite hills in abundance just as we did. Thanks for sharing, cannot wait to see more. Best regards.

Hallo Paul.

Prachtige foto.
Mooi om te zien twee verschillende vogels zo dicht bij elkaar.
Ze zijn mooi gekleurd. Ik kan me zo voorstellen dat je er nog veel meer gemaakt heb en ben er benieuwd naar.

Hello Paul,
A fine capture of these two African bird species, the Red-billed Hornbill and the Lilac-breasted Roller. The Sharpness, composition, DOF and colours are excellent.
Look forward to seeing more from your Krüger NP holiday!
Thanks and kind regards,
Ivan

I like the two birds, of different species and different postures against a white sky.

Lovely capture of the bird. Why is the background so uniformly white? Photoshop?

Ishi

What a fine product of perfect timing Paul, both of the birds are almost in the same plane with the rocky outcrop, so all of them are in perfect focus in spite of the rather shallow DOF provided by your tele lens. Thanks for this nice composition in natural, rich colours.
Cheers,
Mehmet

welcome from Kruger, Paul. you nicely came back with a great shot of two beautiful bird species. I'd like to see other photographes from your trip.
Both of them gave a nice pose contrast each other. sharp focus, POV, composition and colors very nice. Thanks for sharing, best wishes
